Did you have an A# from before? Were you in the US on a studentvisa or something? Maybe that's why you had that in your NOA2 and not me, maybe mine wasn't appointed until my visa was approved, that's the only thing that would make sense?

nope i'm talking about my wife's NOA2 (she's never been to the US and the one I petitioned for)...

Yeah, it was written the wrong way.

It's wierd that some of us don't have the A# in our NOA2's but some do.. Oh well, atleast I'm not the only one!

GOing up to the Social Security office in like 2 hours... but I realized, what am I actually going to do there? HAHA

I mean, what am I asking for? Just give them my A# and ask if I'm in the system and can have my SSN?

I haven't read all this about the A# (just the last 2 pages) but my hubby's is on the NOA2.

I don't know if this means anything, but he has one.

ok here's the deal with A#s. when i had my infopass appt all the way back in february, they told me that my wife had been assigned an A# back in october 2009 itself (when I initially applied and they got the paperwork). when your uscis file is complete, they create an A#. just creation of an A# does not mean anything (as I was told later on by a USCIS telephone person when I escalated the call from the drones to an actual officer, or at least someone claiming to be one back in those horrible USCIS approval waiting period back in the 1st quarter of this year). BUT that A# is the same # that would be assigned to someone if/when they got their green cards. I wouldnt really worry as to if your A# is listed somewhere on the NOA2 or not, as long as it is in your visa and passport...

its a sticker that is affixed to one of the pages in your passport. it says CR-1 visa, has your picture on it etc. most passports are pretty standardized these days and have that universal look. the visa sticker attempts to adhere to that look. you'll see what i mean when you get it...

So, I went to the SS-office today and talked to a very nice lady.

She said she couldn't find anything on me - in regards to a social security card being ordered - so she did it and said I should recieve it in 7-10 days. If I haven't recieved it in 2 weeks, I should come back. We'll see how it all works out! I really hope we don't have to make the drive back up there!

The lady at the SS office said the same, 10 days. But nothing yet. As I said before I think they are waiting for immigration to input our file into the system or something like that.
