I am trying to prepare for the evidence/package to bring on hubby's interview....It's so much info. Then my printer first ran out of ink, then "died" completely...I have to reinstall the printer...And on top of that, I have a few bug/spider bites on both of my legs that I can't walk or stand too much, and have to take sick leave for a few days when I need the money most...

So many things' happening. At least I am forced to stay home and I just clean out the closet today to leave some space for my hubby's clother when he gets here...

Oh, and I just find out that we actually do not have our joint account's statement for the first 6 months the account is opened....I'm so stressed now....

Sorry, just want to vent...there's no one here listening to me, and my hubby's working...THanks guys...

So.... I just got off the phone with a friend of mine at one of my former hospitals. I was looking for an extra job, but he's the one who thought of me for one of their openings and called me. Depending on a few things, I think I'm going to take the offer.

Here are my questions: How do I tell them I need a verification of employment/salary letter from Day 1? The interview is in 2 weeks. There's no way I'll have a paystub by then. How do I explain that I'll need a few weeks off but have no idea if it will be in June or August/September? The demonstrations and fires are over. Husby will probably stay until his work obligations are met. If things start up again, though, he's coming over immediately. And there's the issue of "What if he gets 221g'd" to think of, too.

Now I'm fortunate to work for a physician in independent practice. We have a total of 8 employees, 3 of which are full time. The doc and staff are super understanding and willing to give me the time off whenever I need it. They're just as excited about Husby coming as I am. I would be going to a hospital with over 300 beds and the staff to keep it open and running 24/7. They're not going to care about my husband's immigration status or be able to wrap their schedule around my needs.

How do I approach this? I'm the type of person that if I know something, I'm confident with that. But if I'm just a little bit uncertain, I waffle like crazy. I need to have expectations and a game plan before I go in to accept their offer.

Wife had her medical done today and everything turned out A-OK!!

She had to take two shots, I believe Tetanus and MMR (Mumps, Measles and Rubella).

She's slowly gathering all the evidence for the interview (June 9th).

This is what she has so far. Hope this helps someone...

1)Wedding Invitation Cards (one her family made and one mine did)

2)Engagement Pictures (We had an offical ceremony)

3)Wedding pictures

4)Reception pictures (We have a reception day after the wedding, although there's dinner in both of them )

5)Pictures of us when we went out around town (we cudnt go to a honeymoon because of my short stay)

6)eGreeting Cards printed

7)Bunch of emails from each month

8)Bunch of chats from each month

9)Phone call records made from my landline

10)Phone call records made from a calling card (It says I made about 11,000 minutes worth of calls!!)

11)Receipts of cakes and flowers I sent her

12)Pictures of her cutting the cakes and holding the flowers

13)Fedex receipts of stuff she sent me (DS-230)

14)Printouts of Screen Shots she took when we were online chatting (Only the decent ones )

Besides the evidence, she has all these official documents too

1)Copies of Birth and Marriage Certificates

2)Copies of her Passport and original Passport

3)Copy of AOS submitted to NVC

4)Copy of DS-230 submitted to NVC

5)Notarized copy of my US Passport

6)Copy of my Indian Passport showing entry and exit stamps on my wedding trip (I was still an Indian then...)

7)Copies and Originals of her Educational Certificates

8)Notarized copies of my US Driver's License and two utility bills to serve as Proof of Address

9)Printed copy of her Interview Email (She has'nt received an offical letter in the mail yet)

10)Her medical report in a sealed envelope

11)Her VFS(Courier) receipt saying she made the payment

12)Copies of my Employment Letter and Current PayStubs (Which reminds me I need to send them)

I'm sure there's more stuff but I can't remember now.3

Please point out what anyone thinks is missing...

What about passport-style pics of her and you? Just in case. And I think someone mentioned a CV was often requested, but I'm not sure by which embassy.

can you start the job after the interview in 2 weeks?? that seems fair.

if you change jobs just now at the interview i think there would not be any problems. as long as you still make above poverty, right??

and if you do start right away they can give you an emp letter without any trouble saying what you make now and it would be fine i am sure.

Kari, usually an employer will provide an employment letter or welcome letter on the first day. Do you think you'll be able to start before the interview in order to get this letter? If they don't provide you with this letter, there is no harm at all in asking since this is something that most employer would give. As far as the time, being forthright has been the best option in several instances. Explain the situation and let them know that you will need to take some time off and as SOON as you know the dates, let them know. Usually an employer can be pretty understanding as long as something is not "sprung" on them and they have time to plan.

So would you be leaving the other practice or just adding this one on as a second job? I remember you talking about the joint sponsor issue so I'm not sure. If you will stay on with your current employer, you might want to ask for a letter of recommendation from someone there to show your dependability and work ethic. This way you can take it to the new place if they are leary about giving you the time off.

Does anybody know if India is not in a pool of countries where interview dates are assigned only in the second week of the month? This will confirm the fact that July interviews are already being setup for applicants from India. Although I do see interviews being scheduled for UK and Nigeria as well for July already. It seems that some countries are int that pool and some not. :wow:

Kay, Cheronda, thank you, ladies.

Ceronda, you're right. Being upfront about things from the get-go is the best thing to do. I'm picking it up as a second job. I love our little practice here and don't want to leave it. The hospital needs a staffing coordinator/house supervisor, and they're willing to accept my kooky schedule. I have my son for one week and then he's with my ex-husband for a week. They're willing to have me work only on the week that I don't have my son and coordinate staff from home on the weeks that my son is with me. It's also for night shift, so it doesn't interfere with my current position. Weeks with the baby, I do a staffing check at midnight and again at 5 am. Weeks without the baby, I work at the hospital overnight on the weekends. It's everything I wanted. And in a place with people and procedures I'm familar with. I think they see my work availability as a negative, and then I have Husby's immigration, too. I don't want to ruin it.

Coming at the right time, with the right requirements to match my needs, I can't help but see it as a gift wrapped with a big, pretty bow from God. There are a few other details to smooth out, but humans are like that. Thank you, Lord.

Ah... The last time I worked there I was in nursing school. I was a secretary at the bottom of the chain. Now they want me to coordinate nurses and keep the units staffed and running smoothly. It's amazing how things change with time.

Thank you, ladies, for your support and advice. You brought my senses back to me. I'll know all the details by Friday.

And then it's June. Holy cow!! Can you believe it?!

Also,

I see on DHL tracking website that NVC is still sending packets to Islamabad embassy since my case was approved on May 19th. Here are the packages that were sent to Islamabad since then:

EXP 19 MAY 2010A

9169023430

Ship date: 5/20/2010

EXP 20 MAY 2010A

9169024852

Ship date: 5/21/2010

EXP 21 MAY 2010A

9169026241

Ship date: 5/24/2010

EXP 24 MAY 2010A

9169027335

Ship date: 5/25/2010

My question is what are the chances that nvc is still sending packages for the interviews that will be held in June even though all the June dates were already assigned by may 15th and what I thought is that nvc is done sending packets by 15th of the month. Is it possible that nvc is still sending packets for June or these are packets for July interviews?
