Hubby's done with the medical today! But the doctor said that he might still need 2 shots when they gave him the results on June 3. But they promise him that he will have everything before his interview on the 7th.

Meanwhile I'm busy compiling the evidence and everything. Also bought my ticket to Hong Kong already. It's so expensive, but I know I will greatly regret it if I wasn't there with him, couldn't fly with him for his first long flight and accompany him at the POE. At least I just found out I have over 100 vacation hour accumulated at my job, so it won't be too bad.

So, if my I-864 was submitted last year, I should prepare for a updated one and attached my tax return for 2009 with W2s also? How about my current pay stubs? Should I make copies of them as well just in case?

I don't think they send a letter. For Bangkok, you can do the medical anytime up to 6 months before the interview. Some countries, though, have a medical that takes a few days or is on a specific schedule. E-mail or call the embassy and ask. They'll know for certain who to see and when.

This is the embassy in Ankara's info about the medical: http://turkey.usembassy.gov/medical_requirements.html

I had this question on another thread and let me ask it over here as well ..

I had my SIF yesterday (05-19-2010).

So it means I just have to sit and wait until second week of June for my interview date assignment for July?.. So it means NVC keeps the completed documents and do nothing with them until second week of every month if they have finished processing the case and if it is passed the second week? That is really bizzare..Can't they just send the documents to Embassy so atleast we can request the embassy for an earlier interview date if possible? By the way anyone knows if US embassy in Pakistan has some sort of published calendar of interview dates for every month?

Yes. Now all you can do is wait. NVC schedules the interview with the embassy. Remember, NVC is the big middle man. They can only work with what the embassies give them. The embassies give them their open interview dates and times, and NVC fills them with cases. Some embassies schedule during the last week of the month for interviews two months out. That's what happened to me. My SIF was April 2nd with CC April 5th (the first day of interview scheduling during April). I didn't make it. Instead, I got an e-mail April 30th for a June interview date. Right now, that's what you can hope for.

If you want to ask the embassy for an earlier date, you still can. Once you get your July interview date, you can e-mail the embassy and request your interview date be moved up. Several people have been successful with this. Several people have not.

I checked the Islamabad website briefly and didn't see a schedule. Check again. If there is one, it should be on there. Also, ask in the Islamabad thread in the Embassy section if anyone there knows if the schedule is posted online.

Relax. Gather your evidence. Get your medical done. Prepare for a probable AP, as I understand that's the norm for cases going through Islamabad. Check flights in July, just in case.

Good luck!

Thanks and I appreciate for your detailed response.

I have seen on sevaral timelines in different people's posts that if the date of completion is after the second week, they have been assigned dates of interviews as early as by the end of the same month. So hopefully it is the case rather than to wait for next month's second week..Does it hurt to call them and keep asking about the interview date in the next few days? What if the embassy still has some dates available and not filled for June? Can NVC still assign for June dates if embassy still has slots available for previous month?

It doesn't hurt your case to call. They do keep a record of your calls, though. It's probably going to have more of an impact on you, just making you frustrated for no reason. Rather, you might want to have a date in mind, like the 26th. If you don't receive an e-mail by the 25th, then you will call NVC on the 26th to inquire if an interview has been assigned yet. From there, wait until the 28th and repeat. From there, your hope would be the 11th of June and the 18th of June. So just steps, a few days at a time, to keep yourself from getting too frustrated. It's difficult. You want to be with your sweetheart now, but we have to live by NVC's rules for a little while longer.

If the embassy has June dates that are not filled, NVC will fill them.

Think of NVC as a secretary. They compile documents, check for completion, and schedule meetings. No matter how often a client calls or sends faxes/e-mails, if there isn't an opening, there simply cannot be a meeting. As soon as there is an opening, the secretary's job is to fill it. If they don't do their job, they get fired. NVC does their job. They're limited by embassy capacity (cheesy and I know you're sick of it from the scripts, but it's true). Bangkok only does around 8 IR/CR and K visa interviews per day. Other places do between 10 and 20. I don't know about Islamabad because I didn't find a schedule. The point is that if there are only 8 slots per day, I'll have to wait longer than someone at a place which has 20 slots per day.

You've come a long, long way in your journey. I can't imagine how much you want it to be over. I'm sure you have plenty of evidence, too. Are there any documents that expire? PCC or anything that would need to be updated? What about your home? Is there something special you want to bring to surprise your sweetheart? You can start preparing that. For NVC, though, we have to follow their lead, so I think it's better to focus on the things we can control instead.

The NVC will probably not give you any interview assigned by phone. (i think?) i do not think they will even move it forward if slots are available. calling before you get your interview email is pretty pointless. You are better off calling and asking when they will forward your case to the embassy after you get your interview.

only the embassy will move your case if slots are available AFTER they receive the documents from the NVC. and the NVC operator will not even be accurate in telling you the day your package is sent. the AVR will update when your package arrives at the embassy.

Then you contact the embassy to move the date.
