Most first world countries do not share large borders with third world nations. Australia, UK, New Zealand, and Japan are island nations. France, Germany, Switzerland etc do not share borders with third world countries.

On the other side of the coin countries like Greece and Russia also have large immigrant problems, because of their borders.

Look, there is not the kind of money you would need to fix a problem which you have no logical argument as to it's extent. Some illegals are indeed blood thirsty gang members, some are merely migrant workers trying desperately to take care of themselves and their families. Since they are undocumented we can pull percentages out of our respective #######'s all night long. But the truth is, you exaggerate the nature of the average illegal alien, don't have a rational or reasoned 'cost to the system' analysis, and can't say how much could be saved if we stopped doing everything else and rid our country of illegals regardless of cost or how many legals get hurt in the process.

Actually I can and no study is even necessary. I simply look at countries that have stringent legal immigration policies, furthermore, negligible levels of illegal aliens. Not to my surprise, these nations just so happen to have the highest standard of living in the world.

Nevertheless, the government of any nation is there to protect its people. Ensuring undesirables stay out is one of many ways they do this, hence the thorough scrutiny of any immigrant. Most new legal migrants are in a country on a trial basis, therefore committing a feleony results in prison time followed by the immediate deportation. What you advocate is a two-tier system, where illegal aliens get to enter as they see fit. Additionally, that the rest of America just deal with it and put themselves at risk of having to find out by experience rather than a background check whether this aliens is a nice guy or not. That's lunacy by any stretch. That Americans should play Russian roulette and be collateral damage in the name of illegal aliens.

You talk about the costs yet once again ignore the reality nor ask why every other first world country is so strict with it. To even think that 20,000,000 unskilled poor aliens are not a drain is just ignorance. Article after article illustrate the huge drain they have on local services yet you seem to ignore this. Surely common sense should inevitably kick in at some point. Would India offloading 100 million people into China help the Chinese economy? It sure as hell would benefit India.
