My fiancee has few russian based nicknames that he addresses me by, Emmochka being one of them. I never even considered that correspondence with nicknames could be a problem. In fact, I'd say that it's better because it shows a caring relationship.

This thread makes me smile! (L)

This is sort of funny/cute to us in retrospect, but as soon as we knew we would be petitioning, we were mindful of creating "evidence" we could use. We'd go somewhere and make sure we got photographic evidence of us being together on such-and-such date. We'd make sure names and dates were used in letters and cards. Every e-mail and phone bill was scrutinized for use as evidence. Every used plane ticket and boarding pass was treated as a precious treasure.

We continued right up to the interview, so we'd have our ongoing relationship evidence to bring (which of course they never asked for!).

With lifting conditions coming soon, we are still doing it, but not to the same extent. But if we get a bill with both our names on it, we think "evidence"!

(sorry for second post... tried to edit but it wouldn't let me)

I've never once called my husband by his legal first name (he uses a middle name). I think there is a spot on the biographical info form where you can put any nicknames or other names used. He listed it there, but was never asked about it.

I did make sure to label photos for evidence with his legal name, but emails I sent in had his nickname. I'm guessing it didn't matter, since our primary evidence (plane tickets, boarding passes, hotel reservations and bills) were in his legal name.
