and tons of sugar.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

IMO, it's the nature of processed foods. If you want to eat healthier, avoid processed foods. On the other hand, I know that doing isn't easy for many people with busy schedules. If you are going to eat packaged goods, you have to be a savvy consumer and read the labels.

Wholefoods sells great food and doesn't stock food with ####### in it; however they are expensive. Where I disagree with someone like Paul who talks about choice is that if we had this choice, then why is it most of wholefoods healthy food (even processed food) is stocked from overseas? Evidently we don't have healthy food choices here; certainly not in the TGI grade food chains.

BY - another thing to consider when drinking Pepsi Max, their cans are lined with BPA which is known to cause all kinds of problems including mimicking estrogen.

That must explains my tits. It's funny because we got rid of all of our plastic contains for heating and storing food and now only use glass.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

You are missing what I am saying, or perhaps you do not care. Not only are these so called packaged goods full of unnecessary and probably harmful additives, so are many of the basic ingredients, for example flour. However, my bigger point is, why are we inundated with these goods that are actively harmful to our health when we could just as easily create things that would be good for us, improve our health and quality of life? Why, as a species do we simply want to satiate cravings and cravings that have been artificially created instead of providing ourselves with the best possible building blocks for our bodies to use? I could understand it if things that were good for us simply tasted #######, but that is not the case. We do know how to create satisfying, tasty meals that are also nutritionally balanced and provide our bodies with high quality fuel. Why do more people not demand that this is what is provided rather than things that make us sick?

That's if you're lucky. In the US it's HFCS.

I think that's part of the problem, most people seem to believe that hfc's are 'sugar', which of course in the most basic sense they are. Sugar isn't the best thing to put into our bodies and certainly not in large quantities, but it seems increasingly clear that the hfcs types of sugars are chemically different enough for our bodies to treat them differently which appears to cause our bodies to malfunction.

my hubby has been drinking less soda.. I don't buy soda for the house anymore.. I sometimes by the Hansen's Mandarin Lime Soda to put in his lunch... at home he drinks mainly 1% milk which still isn't the greatest but I figure it is better then soda...

the only time he drinks soda now if we got out to eat on the weekends....

It's more or less the same as your OP article.

I am very frustrated with the food business in the US. It's better in the UK where people seem to be more informed on additives and substitutions (for example there are no hfc's in most products) but it's still not good. People should demand that we concentrate more on producing products and ingredients that promote health not that satisfy artificial cravings. It's mad.

I agree the food business here is scary to say the least! I miss the food from back home there was what 8 or so ingredients in a loaf of bread.. I can't even try to pronounce half of the 30 or 40 that are in the same thing here! I'm cautious about what I eat mainly because of the amount of junk that goes into food. Who really needs high fructose corn syrup in every other edible product there is? I'd like my tongue and mind to make up it's own mind if something is nice or tastes like shite. Money comes first in this place, health and whats good for you secondary!
