The U.S. immigration system is far from perfect. I have a few vents of my own.

That said, you need to keep in mind that statement you made above. You are Canadian - different country, different government - we are not the U.S. and they are not us - I can't think of any reason why Canadians should be given any special treatment.

I am acting entitled.....because I'm CANADIAN!

Y'know.

I'm sure you're proud being Canadian n all, but I think you need to get your head out of the clouds and come back down to everyone else's level.

We have to deal with immigration just like everyone else. That's just how it works :/

You're really starting to sound like a troll with your rude attitude.

You're not entitled to anything, especially sympathy from anyone here, if you keep acting like a spoiled brat.

Don't know how old you are, but it sounds like you have some growing up to do.

Most of the people here from Canada are great people on this site. I refuse to let one bad apple spoil the whole bunch. My suggestion for you is for you to stay in Canada. You had nothing good to say about the USA, so as an old bumper sticker use to say "AMERICA, LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT"....

There are alot of Asians on here and that was uncalled for what you said about mail order brides. Those kind of comments are not tolerated here. What makes this website so special is there are many people here from all over the world and we all have one common goal and that is to be with the one we love.

Wait in line like the rest of us!! If you can't hack that then cry a river somewhere else.....

I think am going to claim refugee status...I need to seek refuge from the liberals in my nation who want to impose too much liberalness upon me.

...I AM FRIGGIN CANADIAN... Let me go live with my hubby like NOW

You absolutely should claim refugee status. See what that monstrous liberal mindset has done to you? You've developed a serious case of entitlement mentality. Get away from them libruls quickly and move to Texas ASAP. They'll set you straight down there.

This comment is completely out of line, against the terms of service and directly offensive to the majority of VJ members. US immigration is what it is. Canadians actually have it easier than those coming from nearly any other country because of the proximity and relative ease of visiting during the process. What would you be saying if you couldn't visit at all and your spouse had to fly half way around to world for any visiting to occur during the process?

C'mon, PushB. Keep the blood pressure down. It ain't worth it.

Since actual mail order brides haven't existed for over a hundred years, it is reasonable to conclude you were referring to something you perceive as real. The logical conclusion is you were referring to people who meet on internet dating websites. If not, then to what WERE you referring.

Being Canadian entitles you to a special USA visitor privilege citizens of no other country have, provided you respect the privilege. Look to Canada for any other entitlements.

Moderator hat off now -

I remember when I first got involved in historic re-enactments in 1989, one of the events was in the US. I hadn't crossed the border much before that but with this hobby, many of the events were in the US so it became a very common occurrence. On this occasion, I was driving with a friend and we crossed at the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor/Detroit. We pulled up to the immigration checkpoint and the officer asked us for our citizenship and our identification. I handed her my Driver's License. She asked for proof of my citizenship - a passport or birth certificate. I tried to explain to her that when I was born in Quebec they didn't issue birth certificates so I didn't have one (which is true, Quebec now issues birth certificates after the fact for those born prior to the mid 1970s- which I didn't know at the time) . She royally rounded on me and told me in no uncertain terms that the US is a foreign country and I am a foreign citizen requesting admission to that country and it was my responsibility to make sure I had all of the necessary documents that I needed to enter that country, and don't ever forget that I have absolutely no rights of admission except for what the US grants and I am not entitled to any special treatment because I am not a US citizen. I felt as small as an ant after she got through with me as well as very grateful that she did let me in on that visit (especially as someone else was driving and they would either have had to leave me in Windsor and continue on without me or turn back themselves).

This is the message that you need to hear. Canadians have no entitlement to the US just as Americans have no entitlement to Canada. The US is a foreign country for Canadians. Canada is a foreign country for Americans. We are very fortunate that over our long years as neighbours we have developed a more-or-less comfortable relationship that allows us to forget our differences at times while we see our similarities, BUT we must never forget - the US is a foreign country and Canadians are no more entitled to preferential treatment than any other individual from any other country in the world. Part of the frustration of the immigration process and wait for Canadians is that we are so used to just stepping across the border for quick visits, for dinner and some shopping, for holidays - and we don't have those major upheavals in our life styles that reinforce the fact that this is a foreign country. Nonetheless, that is exactly what it is and you need to get into that mindset when dealing with immigration. You are an intending immigrant. You are not an American and have no rights to be treated like an American. You are not entitled to anything as a Canadian, except to be treated as a citizen of Canada while in Canada.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

K fine...you all are right...

i knew some would not like what i had to say but never realized people took stuff on the internet so seriously...

Yup. Perhaps now you realize it. Might be a good time to review the TOS statement for this portal. MOST 'stuff on the internet' web portals DO have a TOS.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
