Hello fellow members,my case got approved on April 23rd 2010,so hopefully it will be in the consulate very soon in guayaquil, ecuador. I'm planning a trip to Ecuador in August because according to some of the ecuadorian members who had interviews in Ecuador stated that if the petitioner is not there they will deny the visa,so my vacation time is in August, and hopefully they schedule an appointment in August. My question is: if they schedule the appointment before August, say in June, can i reschedule the appointment for August because i truly want to be there with my wife during the interview and also i dont want them to deny the visa if im not there, can someone please help me

Yes, you can reschedule the date.

You will most likely get a date for June or April depending on how busy the consulate is. You can email/call them and have it postponed.

Good luck.

I would like to know the answer to this question as well. I know that I need to be there with my wife, but my work situation is not the most flexible and there will be certain days where quite simply I would not be able to be with her for an interview. How much warning does Guayaquil usually usually give so that you can try and arrange any situations that might prevent you from going to the interview?

Just adding a note here so you can see my signature line for one example of the dates for an Ecuador CR-1 couple's NVC approval, date our interview was assigned a date, and the interview itself.

Best of luck folks.

VivaBanos it looks like our timelines are pretty similar. I really hope that it doesn't take us until November. It looks like you had some pretty unusual things happen, but still I wouldn't think that it should take that long to get to the first interview.

yes, after our interview our case became unique what with the robbery of the DHL truck!

Anyhow, you'll see that our interview was in October, a month after receiving notification of the interview and about two months after NVC approval.

Hope you all hear good news soon!

Here is the site for Guayaquil listing interview dates by case numbers. Below is packet four dates set. wonder if there is a way to cross reference how long something takes to get from NVC to put in system, then on to the interview list... maybe you could see if the last couple approved. Or watch one file in the "sent packet 4" and see how long it takes to show up same number on the interview dates list???

Once getting to Ecuador I heard it took about two weeks to show up in the computer system. then you send in the packet 4 (which you find online from them). For the last couple it took 6 weeks from receiving Packet 4 to interview.

12/2006 Met while Ivan was in the US on a Turist Visa

12/15/09 I-129F Sent to California

12/21/2009 NOA1

5/11/10 K-1 Approved by CSC :)

6/9/2010 Traveling with my boys to spend a month in Ecuador

6/30/2010 Consulates list of "cases ready to interview"

7/5/2010 "call back in 8 wks and THEN we will set interview date"

July 2010 Three MORE calls-"now I can't book end of August, that's too far ahead to put on the calendar".

August 2010 Last-minute decision by two of Ivan's boys that they want the K2, two more weeks of drafting and Notorizing new legal custody agreements

8/12/10 A FIFTH PIN and call-- "call back just ahead".

8/16/10 A SIXTH PIN and call-- "we can book you for in two days, but if you want next Monday the 23rd or Tuesday the 24th, then call back later THIS WEEK, and we will book you for MONDAY MORNING". frustrated letter by me to Consulate email

8/17/10 Call from US Consulate Guayaquil, man profusely apologizing, books us for 24th.

8/24/10 K1 interview--denied--told he has a lifetime ban. Sad, sad, very sad day.

Currently investigating options on marriage...then 1.5 years of more wait.

It's a little bit different process for the CR-1 visa. There is no packet 4.

Though the couple in question does need to print off one form to take to their interview. This form asks you to list all siblings and parents of the Ecuadorian and whether they have visas for the US.
