Hi, just looking for some information here. My Visa was approved via telephone end of December 2009 and passport was submitted. Passport was returned in February 2010 with a request to file an I-601. The I-601 was submitted early March and I have not had any response as of yet. Is there a contact number to follow up the status and a documented timeline? Also, where is the I-601 processed. My interview was in Montreal November 2009.

Thanks so much

Dave

My guess would be to call the dept of state..

1 202 663 1225 press 1 and then 0... have your case number ready.

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

Normally, I would say 6 months minimum for a waiver since that is the stated processing times for most locations. Since it seems that you are filing through Canada, I would say a year. Canada waivers are sent to Vermont for adjudication and they are notoriously slow.

Can I ask whey they requested a waiver? If it was for unlawful presence, the need for a waiver could be fought.

Calling the 202# will not get you any information other than that the case is still pending. They usually are notified of waiver decisions after you are.

Thanks for the info. The I-601 is for a minor CIMT over 30 yrs. ago. The interesting part is that I had this I-601 paperwork in hand during the interview and it was not requested until post Visa approval. Going on 2 years and 5 months now so what's another year....sigh.... as I look out my window and stare at Michigan.

Today's news. Called DOS.....ouch......Did not go well, the lady was not friendly at all and basically told me the waiver was at USCIS Vermont pending approval and when I asked for a timeline she had no answer and said just wait.

Has anyone had a good experience with getting a Senator involved?
