SALEM — A Camden man who was naked and allegedly under the influence of “wet,” a street term for PCP, was arrested Friday night at West Side Court after Salem City police officers were called to the complex for a reported disturbance, Chief John Pelura III said Monday.

Officers responded to the Front Street complex, operated by the city housing authority, at 5:41 p.m. on Friday to find a crowd of about 30 people, who directed them to a 6-foot-3-inch man, roughly 350 pounds, who was naked and had allegedly been smoking “wet,” he said.

The crowd told police that Long allegedly assaulted a pregnant female and a male resident while at the complex, the chief said. At this time, officers requested assistance at the scene and within a minute, several officers from the Salem Police Department and Salem County Prosecutor’s Office arrived at West Side Court.

As officers approached Long, he allegedly threatened them, according to Pelura.

Officers advised Long that he was under arrest, and as he was being handcuffed, Long began to pull away from police, he said. A chemical agent, Oleoresin Capsicum, similar to pepper spray, was used in an attempt to neutralize Long with no effect, Pelura added.

After wrestling with Long for a short time, officers were able to secure him in handcuffs and shackles, the chief said.

However, Long refused to stand and while officers attempted to place him in the rear of a patrol vehicle, he kicked one officer, causing injury to his hand, according to Pelura.

At that point, the chief added, the crowd began to criticize the officers and began yelling that Long was under the influence of a drug and he did not know what he was doing.

Police were finally able to get Long into the patrol vehicle and transport him to the police station, but Pelura said when officers attempted to remove him from the patrol car, Long allegedly spat blood and saliva on one of the officers.

Then, while moving Long into the police station, Pelura said he spat blood and saliva on two other officers, hitting one of them in the face.

He had a (wet) dream.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
