Me and my fiance are getting married here in the UK on 22nd of May, shortly after this she has to return to the US as she does not have leave to remain here in the UK. We want to be together in the US as soon as possible, what is our best option? We considered the IR1/CR1 but I understand that I will not be able to travel to the US whilst this is being processed. It will be very difficult for my fiance to come back here as she has been here for six months and has commitments at home in the US. We can't stand the idea of spending up to seven months apart. What is the best option for us to be together in the US as soon as possible?

Thanks

Andy & Alicia

Yes you can. Who told you you can't visit? As long as you're back in the UK for the interview and medical etc then there's no problem about you visiting. Just make sure you take strong ties to your home country like any other visit. Sometimes they like to see the NOA1 (receipt) from the CR1 to show that you're trying to go about it the legal way.

Ya, file the I-130 to the lockbox in Chicago.

UNLESS

she's a resident of the UK. If that's the case, can file the I-130 via DCF the day after ya marry, to the USEM in London.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
