I am planning on going back to college and found out that I was eligible for State/Federal Financial Aid.Having Been Sponsored by my USC wife, I am not sure whether her Affidavit of Support will be in question on this particular issue. Will, applying for Educational financial aid create any problems when removing conditions/apply for Citizenship?

Thank you.

The Affidavit of Support is mainly to maintain the immigrant in the household ie living expenses and to prevent the immigrant getting on welfare.

I am sure you can get financial aid from the govt. All you need is a SSN and need for financial aid.

Actually, I already am approved for Financial Aid. Was planning on applying for the fall term. Before I went ahead and accepted, I wanted to know whether it was OK to avail Financial Aid/Grant for colleges. If there were any restrictions due to the affidavit?

Hi saspk! :D

My hubby is going to college, he gets financial aid. We didn't get any grants, only loans, and the loans are no problem. Not sure about grants though. That's definitely a question your finaid office should be able to answer.

Good luck! Nice to see you around. :)

Thank you for stopping by trillium13 :) Good to see you :) I was concerned since I did not want to jeapordize an otherwise perfect immigration case. Just want to go by the book. God Bless you and you'll be seeing more of me around.
