My Fiance is in Ottawa(beneficiary).

She needs to finish three things so she's not denied a VISA:

1) She needs to get her IRAQ Birth Certificate translated\notized\sealed in Long Form format. Where can she go for this? address\name\contact #?

2) She needs to get a Police Certificate from Syria - where does she go for that? - address? dept? contact#?

3) She needs to get a Police Certificate from IRAQ - where does she go for that? - address? dept? contact#?

thanks for your help - I don't know what I'd do without your help.

You can find the information on what is required for all of those here:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciprocity/reciprocity_3272.html

Just choose the country name from the drop down menu on that page, on the page that appears next, click on Jump to Country Documents.

Living in Ottawa your fiance should go to the embassies of both countries to see what assistance they can offer, I went to the German embassy and they did all the required paper work for my documents. I think her doing this would save her time researching names, numbers and addresses on her own. As for the translation there is a place called Universal Communication located at 124 O'Connor Street suite 204, they can also have the documents noterized right in the building. They can have everything ready the next day.

Would you happen to have Universal Communications website or a telephone number. tried looking their number up, came up short.

Yes she has a Canadian Police Certificate, however I have some cocerns about her name on that. It only has her first and last name. Should she run another certificate check using her Middle name too? what do you guys think?

Can't answer about the police cert....didn't she have to fill out a request form at the police station? Did she include her middle name? I'm sure there's nothing wrong with going back and paying for another (if she had to pay at all). Maybe bring the previous one and explain that she needs one with her full name. Can't hurt if it gives you piece of mind.

I'll have her get another Canadian police certificate with her middle name that way she'll have two copies one with and one without her middle name.

thanks so much for the yellow pages link, my brain has been fried. I will call them first thing tomorrow to get her birth cert. translated.

I went to this site to check and see how my Fiance can get her IRAQ Police Certificate: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciprocity/reciprocity_3683.html

I selected IRAQ from the drop down list, however it says this under POLICE RECORDS.

----------

Police Records

Temporarily unavailable. Certificates of Non-Conviction have previously been available via the Directorate of Criminal Identification Department in Baghdad. This office sustained heavy damage in a bomb attack and thus, it is not currently feasible to obtain a Certificate of Non-Conviction.

----------

What Does this mean and what can she tell the consulate officer montreal about the above message? Is their another place where she can go to get this ?

You may wish to ask in one of the Middle eastern forums...someone may have had recent experience

Have her print the page and bring it with her to the interview, keep checking the site to see if anything is updated in the mean time between now and the interview. I would still check with the embassy/consul of iraq on that tho too.
