Mailing address vs. street address for Ghana

Hi,

I am relatively new to VJ, but have been learning a lot from reading the boards. My K-1 petition has been approved and was forwarded to the embassy in Ghana earlier this month. In Ghana I understand that they will send a letter to my fiance telling him when to pick up his packet from the embassy. But, the address on the petition is my fiance's street address, not his post office box address, and I don't think the post office will forward mail to his street address.

What should I do? I didn't think of this until after the petition had been approved and sent on. Does anyone have experience with the Ghana embassy and know how they will send the letter? My fiance says that if they send it DHL it will arrive at his street address, but I am doubting the embassy would go to that much trouble. I did email the embassy on the 7th, asking them about it, but have not heard anything from them two weeks later. I'm really afraid that we are going to end up stuck in the Ghana postal service forever.

My fiance lives in the Northern Region, very far from Accra.

Any help or information is really appreciated!

Thanks,

Jennifer

05/18/2011 - Admin processing complete! Babs is asked to appear at the embassy on the 25th.

05/25/2011 - En route to the embassy, Babs is robbed on the roadside. His passport and other papers are all stolen. After filling out a police report, he arrives at the embassy a little late, and they allow him in to speak to the CO, even though he has no valid ID. Thank God! The CO gives him another appointment on June 15th, to bring a new passport and also an updated police certificate.

06/15/2011 - The CO finds a missing stamp on the new passport. Sends Babs back to the passport office and tells him to return in the afternoon. All is taken care of. VISA APPROVED!!!! PRAISE GOD!!!!

06/24/2011 - Visa pick up date--told to return on the 30th.

06/30/2011 - Babs returns but doesn't get the visa. Back in AP!

Your best bet in a situation like this is to constantly call the embassy, i would say 3-4times a week asking about the case, you may ir maynot get through but thats the Ghana embassy for yu..then also send them emails, its takes about 10 days to get a reply but keep sending it asking about the case with your case number and fiancee name.

They will send you an email for your fiance to pick it up. Thats what happened to me..She we called and emailed because we knew the mailing system is a mess and after harassing them for so long they sent us an email to come pick it up..I hope this helps..let me know if you need the numbers to call

Thanks! I have emailed them a second time, but I will call also. I just have the numbers that are listed on VJ under the embassy information. Is there a better one to call?
