Can we not go there? Just because she's on the 'opposite' side of this issue shouldn't open her up to stereotyping.

Why not?

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

If I, as a legal alien, carry my GC on me, then there's no reason I should end up in jail.

Fair enough.

And what happens when you naturalize, but still look and sound desi. Then what? What document do you plan to show Bubba then?

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Actually Charlie-boy did me a favour there. Correcting that statement rather proves the point I was making - that it is extremely difficult to prove the immigration status of USCs without some sort of standardised, national ID requirement being in place.

If you're an LPR you can produce your GC and are home free. If you are a USC and have no passport, not so much.

To remind you, you stated earlier on that if you, as an indian person, were required to provide more proof of identification than a caucasian person that you wouldn't see it as an "inconvenience".

You can set whatever priorities you like, but capitulating in your own discriminatory treatment... It really surprises me that anyone would say that.

Yes, I got that it surprised you. Your :wow: captured it succinctly.

We all have our own issues that we are passionate about. This is something that doesn't greatly bother/disturb/excite me. It interests me, yes, that's all there is to it.

Well, that's part of the debate around immigration. Do I think it makes a lot of sense to only require a state ID (can still be obtained w/o proving status) and a SSC that's known to be easily reproduced? No. Do I think we need a better ID system that proves one's status? Sure. The AZ law we're discussing here does neither, however.

AZ law works with what it has now. They don't have time to wait for the rest of the country to decide we need to change the SSC and require more nothing more than it and a drivers license.

Indeed. The term "quisling" comes to mind.

With that, they put an undue burden on residents of other states of this nation - including me. I am entitled to oppose their blatant infringement on my right to freely move about the country with my state issued ID.

Does it even interest you though? I mean, if you're just going to roll over if/when it happens and not feel on some level that you have been treated unfairly.

So you're saying that a person's human rights should be dependent on their ethnicity and immigrant status?

Ja Mein Kommandant!

calling an illegal alien an undocumented immigrant is like calling a drug dealer and unliscensed pharmacist.
