I hope the guy suing them wins. There's no place for racism in the workplace.

I was once asked by people to show them a nice house that's 'not in a black neighborhood' I quickly ended the meeting and never spoke to them again. The sale could have yielded me a LOT of money, but each person has to draw their own line in the sand as to what is acceptable and what is not.

It is my observation that in polite company people use euphemisms that essentially mean the same thing. To hear someone utter that actual phrase is unusual but how is a euphemism that means the same essential thing any different?

It goes back to what Danno said - there's a difference between a "black neighborhood" and "a neighborhood with blacks in it". All that's really doing is drawing a class-based distinction between poor blacks and the rest. In actual practice, neighborhoods with lots of poorer black people are undesirable places to raise a family, even for said poor black families.

So what are some of the popular euphemisms we use to exclude such neighborhoods from our property searches? The #1 has to be "good schools". There is probably nothing else that is as good an indicator of socioeconomic status than the test scores of the students who go to that school district. When you ask for a home in a "good school district" in my part of the country you're basically asking for a home in an area without too many poor black (and hispanic) people.

And I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

That's another thing. Why are schools rated by test scores, and not by metrics like the availability of AP classes and lab equipment, etc?

It's because poor black neighborhoods (in this part of the country) do not lack the funding. If funding and things that one got from funding were the metrics, Newark would look good.

So how do we effectively distinguish between them and schools with "good kids" (read, middle class or rich kids)? We rank by test scores.

And I don't think that's such a bad thing.

Like I said a while back, it does say something that every convenience store in a predominately AA neighborhood is owned by a foreigner, usually from a much poorer country.

There comes a point where you have to draw the line and accept reality that certain people are not interested in advancing their community or having to work for something, They'd rather have 12 kids and claim they have be railroaded and demand to know who is going to pay for their choices.

I am not saying we hang these people out to dry but someone has to go in there and ask ####### is going on... What will it take for them to pick up a paint brush and take care of their property. My parents often worked two jobs and were still able to maintain a clean nice house and garden. The smallest of trash never to be seen, even outside the house.

BIL of a good friend of mine owns a bunch of liquor stores in a NJ "hood". He speaks very little English, is an immigrant from India and was here illegally for many years until he married my friends SIL (born USC). He has owned those stores for a decade now, has been shot three times. He still does it because he makes a boatload of cash doing it. Americans (of any color) who would accept that level of risk become mercenaries in Iraq, not liquor store owners

Similar story here. Students in the poorest county are allocated over $13K per student. Whereas, those in the county with the highest grossing households in the entire country only spend $10K. One guess who by a long-shot delivers the goods.

In my house I was given the choice to learn or earn; learn as in actually learn. Chill or gang bang was not an option period.

Perhaps you should be the one to "go in there and ask ####### is going on".

You have a serious obsession with racial minorities, its really quite bizarre.

Same here. When it came to academic achievement, fuсking around was not an option. Although I figured out early on that it was much easier to simply sneak out and take ѕhit for it later than it was to ask permission and deal with all the drama and not get to go anyway.

So if he can do it then why cannot a local? Why is it no local from a ghetto opens up a small store, barber shop etc? Why is it in Australia we have community clean up Australia days, yet those in ghettos cannot be ###### to place trash in a bin?

Once people admit this all has to do with culture, we can start devising strategies to break it. Truth be told, that out here, my area is quite nice. It's those in the ghettos that are suffering and living in dilapidated third world-esque conditions. Yet these same people do not give a ####.

Or have they been kept down for so long that they have simply lost hope; which is a possibility. I refuse to believe anyone would actually want to live in squalor and crime cesspools.

It usually indicates caring. Australia didn't get to where it is by saying so long suckers and leaving the disadvantaged to live in squalor. In order to change, it meant heavy handed anti-Paulish government intervention and the result speaks for itself. In two cities of around 4.0 million each, not one no-go zone period.

My parents inevitably have in bit made it clear to never be brought home by a cop or have one come to the door. This is a complete contrast to the 2010 parent who will let their kid do whatever and then once arrested deny deny deny their child did anything. My dad would be the first to say take the ###### in. Actually, I'd probably be safer in prison.

"Caring". Who are you trying to kid. You have complete disdain for those people and no interest in trying to understand the issues faced by people in those communities, only your preconceived ideas.

Australia got where it is by screwing over the black man.

Australia got where it is by screwing over the black man.

Doubt it, as they were not from a culture that worked for anything. They were certainly never used as slaves.

Actually, Australia is one of few countries that is renowned for not having exploited others to get ahead. One guess whose country was actually one of the worst for this. Hint: Not the US. Where do you think the UK acquired those billions in gold it currently has? Not exactly a terrain renowned for gold or diamonds. Might also want to check out various Indian monuments and see what happened to the gold.
