I was once asked by people to show them a nice house that's 'not in a black neighborhood' I quickly ended the meeting and never spoke to them again. The sale could have yielded me a LOT of money, but each person has to draw their own line in the sand as to what is acceptable and what is not.

I don't know where you live, but where I live, that would certainly be a more than reasonable request.

Would you have accepted they say not in a low-class ghetto?

If they made their request not based on race, national origin, etc...yes, I would have shown them other areas.

To say 'I don't want to live near blacks'...sorry, I'm not helping you.

FWIW, I cannot believe the amt of racism in this thread. To automatically assume black neighborhood = low class ghetto is quite revealing.

Come on, lets not beat around the bush here. The majority of shithole crime infested ghettos are made up of African Americans. Or should we blame racism for someone not being able to put trash in the bin? How about not being able to maw their law? Or buy a can of paint, a hammer and a few nails to repair their house? Many sure as hell live at walmart, yet apparently cannot find the home renovation section. Landfills downunder look nicer than most inner-city areas.

There is a massive difference between the attitude of my neighbors that are AA to those of inner-city ones. For starters, they are normal. They speak, act and sound like any other American. They don't have some no-snitch rule in their family. They don't allow their homes to look like #######. They don't have 12 kids and demand everyone else pay for them.

The people I feel sorry for are the few genuine folks that are caught in that ghetto mess, short of a miracle, have no way to get out.

I wonder if your neighbours also deal in stereotypes?

No my neighbors are normal, hence our regular interaction and cookouts.

This AA senator from Brooklyn sums it up to a tee: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cj7v_Ntih2k&

Be it black, white, pink or green, I wouldn't hire such idiots if they paid me.

Just you then.

Normal, eh. Is there a checklist for that?

Presumably so long as they don't play music loud, let their kids run amok or spread trash in their yard it doesn't matter to you if they get sexual kicks out of watching animal cruelty videos, run a brothel out of their house, embezzle money or have a basement full of dead prostitutes.

Ah pike, like anyone with such views, you talk a big game but wouldn't be caught dead living let alone interacting with the very same people you defend. Once again, like the deadbeat with 12 kids, you fail to realize that you simply enable people like that. Or maybe it's more sinister; you actually want these people to stay in squalor than educate them about how to behave like normal people and have access to a normal life. A community is what you make of it. Evidently, they have turned every single one throughout America to ######. Find a city, find the shitwhole area and one guess who will be in it - a minority.

"Well they have no money". Not true. Hence the number of people wearing expensive clothing or using a $200 iphone. Whereas a can of paint, a broom and a hammer costs about $50. Lots of people immigrated to AUS, Canada or the US with nothing and didn't end up turning their areas into #######. In actual fact, in AUS, these previous working class areas are now some of the most expensive and worth well over $1.1 million.

"What's normal?". Certainly not conditions reminiscent of the 'old country'.

I am willing to make a huge assumption. If Aus was to grant citizenship to one entire US ghetto community and give them access to all of the welfare and resources they have to offer in AUS, from homes to free health care, they would still live in squalor. Furthermore, even the best area would end up looking like #######. Even after being told that in AUS, you actually get to keep your government house after taking care of it and living in it for 15 years.

I did live there, BY. For 4 years.

Hillside, NJ

I rather think I know more about the day to day realities of those communities than you do, with your generalizations.

I don't enable anyone, what a ridiculous thing to say.

And what exactly do you mean by the "old country"?

I'm a realist. Australians don't beat around the bush. If they did, they wouldn't be ranked so highly, as in second best in the entire world for HD. If someone is a bludger, we call them out period.

I guess it must also be stupid or racist to point out that Australians commit 96% less homicides than AA. Therefore, why would I be insane enough to live in a ghetto near such criminals? If there is one legitimate reason to not ban guns, that is it.

Perhaps the Brits had common sense to realize that a group of people that have not been in the 'old country' for 6 to 8 generations cannot possibly be identified as someone who was born there or at the most first generation.
