125 percent, unless the petitioner is in US Military, then it's 100 percent.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Heres a link to the poverty guidelines - Poverty Guidelines

Most embassys follow the 125% because after you move you have to show that much for AOS. Some embassys are just ####### too tho lol.

Uurgh, need a new keyboard.

If you are self sponsoring for a K1 it is a few thousand.

Self-sponsoring (the petitioner) versus self-sponsor+joint sponsor to cover the rest if the original petitioner can't swing the $$

There is no such option, if you do not self sponsor.

A joint sponsor has to be a USC or LPR.

I think I see the confusion here (sorry to butt in Boiler):

If you self-sponsor (which has been done on several occasions through London by a K1 applicant), you cannot have a joint sponsor. In this situation, "self-sponsoring" means the UK K1 applicant providing the financial backing for the I-134.

The regular sponsorship process is either by the USC petitioner alone (what I think Justine means by "singular") or jointly by the USC petitioner and another USC or LPR sponsor.

There cannot be joint sponsorship in the self-sponsorship process because one assumes that the joint sponsor would be the USC petitioner, in which case the sponsorship would be considered to be by the USC petitioner only and would cancel out the UKC self-sponsorship. Any USC or LPR who is not the petitioner attempting to joint sponsor a self-sponsored K1 applicant would have no standing to do so. I think when Boiler says:

A joint sponsor has to be a USC or LPR.

he means that a joint sponsorship on a self-sponsorship attempt is impossible because both sponsors must be a USC or LPR -- and of course the self-sponsor must be a UKC, thus not fitting the criteria of a joint sponsor.

Oh dear, I think I may have made that even more confusing.unsure.gif

Edited: to make things even more confusing, I fear.
