Ok, I am not really sure if I should post this here but I don't really know where else to ask this. This morning I applied for my SSN. I will be getting that one in the mail in about 10 days so that went all well. However, when the lady who took my application looked at the computer she told me that they had misspelled my name at the Immigration Service. They turned an A into an E. Now my question is basicaly what I can do about this?

You can file for your AOS with the correct spelling and then after you get the green card (or the EAD if you apply for it) you can take it to the SSN to have a corrected one issued. Most employers will not worry about the 'a' instyaed of an 'e' - at least I hope so. Good Luck

Related question here:

My wife's 2-year green card arrived in the mail today.

The only problem is, they left out one letter in her middle name. We did notice this in our interview notice -- and our interviewer said that he would make the correction, but it didn't happen.

99% of the correspondance with USCIS only uses the middle initial. The green card has the initial up at the top, but the middle name is spelled out in the computer generated area.

Any idea what to do? I hate the idea of surrendering the card and going back into administrative limbo!

Thank you,

Randy and Nina
