Hello fellow VJer's... I just want to be guide... I am getting worried about my AOS.

My I-94 expired in Dec. 24, 2009, my husband and I were able to complete my AOS requirements till April this year (2010) and also we waited for his 2009 tax return to be filed and complete the filing fee of $1,010. We have sent the I-485 and I-765, corresponding copies of required documents and the money order via USPS express mail with return receipt last April 13. According to online tracking, they have received it the next day, signed by "L Box". Also in my I-485 is a slip of Form G-1145 (Application for E-notification) with my email and cellphone. Till today, April 25, I haven't received neither the return receipt, nor an email or text notification that they received my application???? I have ask one personnel from our local US Post Office and she told that it usually take 3-4 days to receive the return receipt.

Hope you can give me advice, thanks..

Love conquers everything!!!

Since you haven't been assigned an application number on an I-797 form (NOA1),

you might want to make an infopass appointment at your nearest service center.

Check by phone with USCIS first if you can, give your A# (on I-94 slip in your passport).

I doubt that would work but it's worth a try. If you walk-in to the nearest service

center they may require you to make an appointment. At least they should be able

to tell you that over the phone.

The I-94 expiring is usually not a major problem but you waited 3 months after that,

THEN it may be a problem. I don't know when the "cutoff date" for that would be.

Others with more experience please jump in.

I got confirmation of their receipt of her AOS package on the same day as you

but got the hard copy a week later (April 19). There is still hope they may send it

within a week or so but after that I would pursue it with the USCIS.

Has your check been cashed? You may be able to read the receipt number on the back of the check and try to check it online at the USCIS site. In my opinion, you should have received your hard copy NOA1 by now. Making an Infopass appt. is probably the best way to go. Also, verify that you sent your package to the right address. Good luck!

I sent USPS money order together with my AOS application. I tried verifying it at the post office but they say 1 week is too early for them to check if it's cash already. thanks...

If they are preparing to reject the application the check won't be cashed.

You are entitled to a response whatever the outcome

(that's more than can be said about the SSA - I had to drag it out of them).

I mailed her AOS application at a post office used mostly by diamond dealers in NYC.

There was a sorry guy there asking about a package he mailed out to the wrong zip code which the USPS could not trace.

Best of luck!

If it helps at all, some of the Feb filers took about 10-14 days to receive their email confirmation that the package had been accepted. I would give it another few days, they should hopefully get something done soon.

I also thought it was taking a long time for them to process the receipt and send the certificate,

when compared with the speed with which I received my I-129F NOA1.

In any case, good to hear you got a positive result.
