joint sponser question

hi i have a question, my brother is my joint sponser and on the household size, he's including me, his wife, himself and my spouse right? i'm dependent on his tax forms and i have zero income.

he has sponsored other ppl as well, upto how many years, he has to include the people he has sponsored?

o alright thnx. do i have to send some additional info besides his 3 yrs tax returns and an explanation about me not filing taxes coz of not making enough money??

what about the proof that he's my brother?

or copy of his green card ?? any additional stuff i should b sending in with I-864??

ya, you'll need to submit proof of yer family linkage, you betcha. i suggest 2 birth certificates (copies only, 1 on you, 1 on him) that show the same mother or father name, include a letter of attestation about it.

remember - as the petitioner, YOU have to file the I-864 as well, since you are the PRIMARY sponser.

i did fill up my I864 and even though i made less than 3,000 so i'll show income of zero for last 3 yrs.?? i'm including all my W2's and recent paystubs

but y do i have to show a family linkage, he's not filling out I-864A....he's filling out I-864, he doesn't live in the same household as i do. is it one of the requirements?? coz i dont have a birth certificate. i lost it.

If he is not completing the I-864A then showing the relationship does not matter as far as the I-864 is concerned.

He will have to meet the income requirements for his household+any persons that he has sponsored (if those persons are still LPR and have not reached 40 qualifying quarters)+your spouse.

he's making more than enough to meet the requirements. is there anything else i have to submit besides his tax returns etc,

what about the letter stating that i didn't make enough income for past 3 yrs. ?? is there a letter format here on visa journey. if i write it one myself, what r the things i have to include in it?

Remember, the USC petitioner will file a I-864 regardless of income. If your joint sponsor lives in the same household as the petitioner, then they will use I-864A. If they live in a separate residence, then they will fill in another I-864.

For your joint sponsor you will need proof of their citizenship/residency. For household member, you will need proof of relationship and same household/residence.

The 10 is wrong. If he has sponsored other people, he counts them regardless of how long ago it was. The question on the I-864 is this.

However, since this is a household member, they can use the I-864a that doesn't ask about the household member's previous I-864 filings.

ok got it, and no my brother doesnt have the same place of residence as i do so we'll both fill up 1864.

today's the 25th and i havnt even got the NVC case #. i've been trying everyday to call their AVR system. it doesnt recognize my receipt #.
