July will actually work better for us, too (I think). I know it will be better financially with airfare so high! If you come up with a good place to buy, let me know. When I have used random dates for July, The average for me is $1800 with taxes and fees!

I'm still searching for flights. For me I found if I book this month at least a month in advance its a few hundred cheaper. If I find a good site I will let you know.

Thanks! I look at all those sites that are supposed to be cheaper, but then when I look at the airline sites, there is really no difference. My past trips, I have booked direct with the airline because I thought it was safer.

Umm... #######?

So I just got a letter today from the NVC.

I have no F-ing clue what they're trying to say.

Also keep in mind it's dated May 17th (so the whole "whups we lost your documents" was th 19th).

Let's see if we can't put this grammar puzzle together.

Anyway, here's what the letter says:

-begin letter-

Dear (person we are currently screwing over):

Your inquiry has been received at the

National Visa Center (NVC)

Please be adviised our office has revised our guidelines for communication between the NVC and the public. We are now required to verify case information each time we receive an inquiry.

According to U.S. law, the NVC is only permitted to discuss details of a visa case with authorized

(more garbage about needing name date of birth to verify)

Please resubmit your inquiry including the required information. Please be advised that your inquiry has been processed. Any documents submitted with your inquiry have been processed and placed into the case file.

(uuuh #######? Resend what you've already processed?)

If you wish to obtain case specific information...

(mail phone all that garbage, nothing new here)

If a period of a year passes

(we all already know this too)

-end letter-

Annnd there you have it.

This is worded so strangely! And when I read it, I can't get anything out of it. I am not sure if they want more info from you or if they are trying to tell you their privacy policy! Hope someone else can help!

Hi people, I have a question for you, on the DS-230 how many passport size pics I need to enclose, should I send 4, please let me know. Thanks and God bless :D

It says send two but.....I put two each in two different bags and attached them to the front of the ds-230 because... I read a story about how someone got an rfe because nvc actually lost their photos. So, I sent the extra two for just in case :)

That's the same thoughts I have. I'll call them in a little while to find out, if I have to. But I'm hoping someone has seen this before or has an idea.

Thanks for your reply, I will send 2, now should I put them on an envelope, or in a small plastic bag?

A ziploc bag is the best. When I sent my things to USCIS I sent our pics in an envelope until I read to put them in a ziploc. Maybe that's what took USCIS so long

So did you have to resubmit everything or something?

I didn't have to re-submit anything as I had simply asked them a question.

I sent another email with the same question but this time I gave the names of beneficiary and petitioner, and their DOBs correctly.

They sent an answer back (via email) which was essentially the same as what the AVR was telling.

Sorry, I guess I'm not helping here but I just noticed that your letter and my email had similar text so I responded.

Alright, I just called and got it figured out.

Wish I didn't forget the operators name, she was so nice and an excellent help.

I'll post the update and explain what happened in a little bit. Got to take care of something else at the moment.

July will actually work better for us, too (I think). I know it will be better financially with airfare so high! If you come up with a good place to buy, let me know. When I have used random dates for July, The average for me is $1800 with taxes and fees!

Spotlight Article: The Best Time to Get a Deal on Plane Tickets

You might think plane tickets from one destination to another are generally the same price. Surprisingly, they are not. The variation can be as much as forty percent based things such as the airline, the dates you fly, the hours you fly and where you sit. Given this huge variation, the frugal traveler should smell a potential deal. In this article, we talk about how to get it.

1. The first issue to consider is the season. If you are hoping to fly from New York to Paris in June, you are going to pay and pay big. Why? This is the high tourist season. You couldn’t fly at a worse possible time. There is so much demand that the airlines are going to keep prices high without exception. The lesson – don’t fly during high season.

2. When you commit to the trip, start looking for tickets immediately. The farther out you are from your departure date, the better the chance you’ll have of getting a good deal. Why? Well, the airlines are more interested in filling seats at this point than working you over for every dollar you have. As the departure date approaches, a flight with few remaining seats available will be able to charge a premium for them.

3. When is the cheapest hour to fly? The red-eye flights my friend. You will always save money on these.

4. What are the best days to fly? The answer is three fold – Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Of these three, Wednesday is the absolute cheapest day.

5. What about holidays? Try to fly early and late. Try the previous weekend for the trip to your destination and a few days after the crowd has flown home to come back. These days are devoid of travelers and seats are usually very cheap.

6. If you really want to score a deal, stay up late on Tuesday night. When the clock ticks over into Wednesday morning, start shopping for deals. The airline reservation programs release new seats after midnight, so you can get killer deals. That being said, the seats don’t last for long and will be gone by the time people wake up on Wednesday morning.

The biggest expense of most trips is the flight. Take the time and effort to work the system and you can cut this expense down to the nub and save a bundle of money on your trip. Enjoy
