NVC May 2010 Edition!

Just called NVC - no interview date. Next hope - that we will get one for July, and hear about it by the first part of June. This business of waiting after all the 'hard' stuff is done is very disheartening. The AVR says wait 6 - 8 weeks, I will be nice, and give them til June 1st(which will be 7 weeks). June 2, I am calling my senator.

I haven't called them yet, but perhaps I might try again sometime this week. I am hoping as well to get July interview atleast. Things need to start moving faster already!!

I have never heard of USC passport notarized in US and proof of address

What are you sending her -

1. Your passport notarized in US.

2. Your license copy notarized in US that shows your address.

Yup, my passport copy notarized and maybe notarized copies of my driver's license and a utility bill.

OK maybe it was pointless, but I tracked that package all the way to its delivery at the Jordan embassy!

I want to call NVC to see what they will tell me, but I feel really nervous about it.

Maybe I will wait til after work tonight!

I just really want to encourage you and the other Canadians to complain about the Montreal situation (maybe when the whole process is done for you, or whenever you see fit). I'm totally disgusted with the situation...and a couple of things particularly bug me:

1) I can *never* get anyone official to so much as acknowledge that Mtl is a problem. Every time I raise the subject with someone at NVC they claim to have no knowledge of the situation.

2) [this is related to #1, obviously] Canadians are given *no* heads-up about the situation. Considering how normal it is for Candians and Americans to get married, you'd think there would be, as some sort of courtesy, a Canada-USA marriage guide or something that would include in it a warning that the wait for the consular interview would likely be the longest part. I had absoultely NO idea, once I finished with USCIS, what a long road I still had ahead of me.

And, seriously, what is the possible reason? I mean, sure: they're backlogged, blah, blah, blah. But what work is actually involved? USCIS has done the background checks. NVC has checked the other documents. What's left to do? A 10-minute interview? Another quick check over things?

Anyway, I share your frustration. Very much so.

Montreal has historically been slow...gee then what are they doing about it? If it's slow and ineffective, doesn't it make sense to address the issues? Perhaps there hasn't been enough complaint or concern to actually do much about it. I can't blame the consulate if they are swamped but what's being done to address the workload? Montreal has been operating with a 3 - 5 month delay. Those who case completed Apr 8, and 9th got June interviews and were advised May 1, 3rd. Hardly what NVC will tell you given that they say they only schedule in the 2nd week of May for June....yup I believe that. That was quite encouraging to see the April people getting June. There is still a chance the rest of us Apr completions can get June but we're now into the 3rd week of May and I haven't seen anyone adding to the MTL timeline. How is it that NVC hasn't scheduled one that we are aware of over the last week?

There's still a shot given the next few days but my concern is if they only schedule one or two for June, like May with two, then July could be only two or so, then it's Aug for two and.....

I enjoy ranting it seems.

I just called an operator and found out our case was completed on May 12th. Yay!!!

So request for my birth certificate was a false RFE.

I got an email for the RFE. It's for the PPC from Passport office. We had already mentioned on the Cover Letter that the Ahmedabad passport office DOES NOT provide the PCC w/o the interview letter!!! Other folks have done the same thing and they've accepted it.... why? o why us???

It's another story that we were able to get the PO PCC using the false checklist that they generated on May 4th. So if they don't budge, we'll send that out.

there goes any chance of a June interview... Now I can only hope for July!!

YAY!!!! CONGRADS!!!!

UPDATE: just got off the phone with NVC after a 30 mins wait! They said the Chekclist for the missing PCC is JUST A REMINDER!!! SHEESSH!! She also said that she will send my case to a supervisor to review and close. From reading other VJers stories about supervisor reviews that may increase the time right? I'm just glad they'll complete the case now hopefully!

WHEW!!! Thats good to hear!!! In my case supervisor did increase the time.
