They sent you a checklist for that? I did write it with the advice of everyone here. My hands hurt but I wasn't risking a checklist! :D

Oh, no, sorry about the confusion!! what I meant was that they sent me a checklist for the ds-230 packet, and on the sheet that they emailed, it wrote that we should write the case number on each form.

I called the automated service today and it said that my checklist was received on may 12th. The operators told me yesterday, the 13th, that my packet had not been received yet...

just to see how informed they are at times..

Yes, write it on the DS-230 packet forms as well. I got a checklist from them, and it said on it to write the number in the upper right side of each form. Good luck! Hope they review it quickly.

NVC is really reaching for dumb reasons to give an RFE these days.

I think at least half the people or more get RFE'd now.

Well the lady at the NVC said that they would be scheduleing interviews until Monday or Tuesday. So a few more days to possibly get an interview. Still some hope left for a June date.

Guys, I have another question, on the DS-230 List all of the places that you have lived since age 16, should I start when I turned 16?, also I lived in Argentina for 8 months, I was working there for the airline, I read that if you live in another country, you will need a police record if you lived there for 12 months or more, my case is different, I was there for 8 months and that was it, I lived in Costa Rica the entire time. Do I need one? Thanks so much again

My wife put down the month she turned 16 and went from there. I thought some folks were getting RFE's for going earlier than that month.

(Thats the only part of your question I can answer)

From the day you turned 16 you have to list every address you had if you were there for 6 months or more and get a police certificate for each one.

From the day you turned 16 you have to list every address you had if you were there for 6 months or more and get a police certificate for each one.

The operators are not very clear on this requirement. Some say that you need a police certificate only if you have lived in that country for 12 months. Other say that you need it if you have lived there for at least 6 months. Each time I called and asked them to inquire with a supervisor, I was told that the certificate is only required for 12 months of residence. My mom worked in another country for 9 months, so I needed to get information about this requirement. I would say that if you can get the certificate, do it. That way, you don't need to stress out about possibly getting a checklist for it. I will post here about my situation, whether they requested a certificate for 9 months.

My wife put down the month she turned 16 and went from there. I thought some folks were getting RFE's for going earlier than that month.

(Thats the only part of your question I can answer)

Oh, wow. So I may get an RFE? I did not start with the exact day of her 16th birthday... Darn!

What age did your start with? I had an attorney at that time & they messed up on that question too and put since hubby turned 9 which we didnt get an RFE for it but I had hubby correct it for the VFS stage in India. In your case if it flies through NVC, update the form for the interview. Best of luck! Hope you don't RFE!

LOL, nah, you'll probably SIF before me. When I called to check on my case on Monday or so, I asked to speak to a supervisor because the operator wasn't giving me anything useful. Since I asked to SPEAK to a supervisor, they now put in the system that I wanted my case to be REVIEWED by a supervisor! So now they said that is another 2 weeks from the day that they assigned it to a supervisor! IDIOTS. But who knows, maybe it will go more quickly...How often do you call?

From what I'e studied on here, you need a police report for every place you've lived 6 months or more in your country of NATIONALITY (state, city, province) AND a police report for every place you've lived 12 months or more OUTSIDE of your country of nationality.

The operators are not very clear on this requirement. Some say that you need a police certificate only if you have lived in that country for 12 months. Other say that you need it if you have lived there for at least 6 months. I guess that is why we should ask to talk to a supervisor, but make sure you tell them that you just want to TALK to a supv not get your case REVIEWED by a supervisor! :bonk:

I don't think you'll get an RFE gina_raluca. There were several folks who put where the beneficiary lived since birth and were fine.

I think it's getting harder to talk to a supervisor. When I called and explained my situation, with all the conflicting information I got, and asked to speak with a supervisor- they put me on hold and they asked their supervisor for me. At least, they acknowledged my request.

Thanks! I really hope so. It would not be a problem if they wanted a new form. My mom could take it to the interview with her. I just hope they don't delay the case at the NVC for it.

I started with her birthday and went until a few months after 16, when she left her hometown. I hope they will just ask that my mom bring a new, updated copy at the interview. Thanks!
