Soooo.... Today sucks.

I woke up to a text message that my best friend and her husband want the phone number to call to revoke their sponsorship. Because I didn't go out with them last night so now they feel I'm using them to get Husby here. I'm sorry.... WHAT THE FACK?! We've been friends for years. Before I even considered the possibility of Husby and I spending our lives together. And now this?! Already I wasn't wanting to have them be joint sponsors, but now they want to cut all ties to me.

So, needless to say, they're pulling their sponsorship. Mother isn't feeling "right" about being joint sponsor. Dad has already said flat out that he will not put his finances on the line, but he will help provide Husby with employment once he gets here. Monday I'm applying for a part-time job at a hospital. Nights, every other week if I can get it. I can quit later, right, as long as Husby doesn't become a burden on society?

This is so confusing!! AVR and operator confirmed case completed, and I thought it is all over and all I am waiting for is the interview date...

But just now, I received an e-mail Check-list response from NVC saving we need the Police Certificate from Hong Kong. I already noted on our cover letter in our DS230 package saying it is requested and sent to HK US Embassy already, because Hong Kong Police Department won't mail it to NVC....now what should I do? I am so confused now.

Sigh...and I thought all I am waiting for is interview date...and now a check-list response for something I've already requested and sent to the embassy...sigh...

Now I need to call NVC on Monday first thing to clear this up...hopefully I won't miss the June interview assign date....this whole process is so confusing and depressing...I can't wait for this to be over and my hubby here with me....

Sorry to hear that...I hope everything will work out at the end. I have been working 2 full time jobs just so I would have enough money to sponsor my husband as I don't have anyone who can be our joint sponsor....Best wishes to your journey!!

Yeah...I think you can quit later...I think you just have to prove your income once...after that, as long as he doesn't apply for certain public assistance, you will be fine...

Whaaaat????????????????? Your friends want to revoke sponsorship because you didn't want to party with them last night?

Jezzzz, I'm glad they didn't become sponsors, otherwise they would smash it on your face every time they can, after hubby gets there.

I'm so sorry hon! I really am! Hopefully you can get the job at the hospital and need no help. You know my story too. My FIL wasn't feeling right about it either. But then when we told him that if he doesn't do it we would be stuck in Brazil forever he changed his mind. So we are taking his papers to the interview and see if the CO asks for it. At this point I just wish I don't need to use his affidavit. Really want to do this on our own.

I'm sorry Kari! Hope you can get everything sorted out before the interview. Hang in there. That sucks (F)

hmm, when i sent the ds-230, i only put a note saying 'i did not include the police certificate because the police department will send the cert. directly to the embassy'. i haven't even requested it yet! i thought i could just request it just before the interview! :crying:

good luck to you.

Pay attention, non-EP NVC noobs. Here's Christeen's time tested formula to get you through NVC in one piece alive:

Petitioner: Get NVC # + give operator your email IDs + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send I-864 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page.

Beneficiary: Get NVC# + receive DS3032 + send DS3032+ DS3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay & wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail DS230 package with all original/certified documents

= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled.

Suggestions:

1) Have the beneficiary mail SIGNED extra DS230s to you so that you have them handy in case something goes wrong. Or you get hit by a dreaded RFE.

2) If you just received your NOA2, THIS is the time to get your tax stuff and police certificates sorted out. Don't waste time on this.

3) Double check the PCC requirements in the regional forums as they are country specific.

4) Check the pinned STUPID RFEs thread in IR-1/CR-1 forum before sending in your packages.

5) Mail your DS230 package to your USC spouse as soon as you get your NOA2. That way he/she can overnight it to NVC as soon as the IV bill clears.

6) Get your taxes, employment letter, paystubs, PCCs, civil documents etc. while you wait for the NOA2.

Currently the # of business days NVC is taking:

3-4 days for NVC to receive your case and assign a case #.

3-4 days to receive emailed links after case # has been assigned and email addresses been given to NVC operator.

1-2 days for the AOS bill to show as PAID.

1-3 days for DS3032 to be accepted.

1-2 days for IV bill to be PAID.

8-10 days for case complete after all your documents have been sent in.

Folks--please make sure your official VJ timelines are up to date. Remember this is our only source of predictions. Thankyou!

Regarding the AOS package:

First thing, I would recommend is that you print out the I-864 form and read the instructions about 2 times. Mark out the relevant portions and ask any questions you might have after that. I would suggest you read the guides for a comprehensive idea about how the AOS packet will comprise.

Recommended AOS package:

I-864 Coversheet (with barcode) for payment of $70

Form I-864 (signed and dated)

2009 Federal Tax Return/W2 and 1099s or IRS tax transcript.

2008 Federal Tax Return and W2 and 1099s or IRS tax transcript.

2007 Federal Tax Return/W2 and 1099s or IRS Tax Transcript

Letter of Employment

Pay stub(s) from the most recent six months

Bank Statements.

Remember, the USC petitioner will file a I-864 regardless of income. If your joint sponsor lives in the same household as the petitioner, then they will use I-864A. If they live in a separate residence, then they will fill in another I-864.

For your joint sponsor you will need proof of their citizenship/residency. For household member, you will need proof of relationship and same household/residence.

A guide to the DS230 packet for Indian beneficiaries.

--Cover sheet for Immigrant Visa Bill of $400.

--Two (2) Passport Size Photographs of Beneficiary (Beneficiary's full name, and date of birth are written on back of both).

--DS-230 Part 1 completed and signed by beneficiary.

--DS-230 Part 2 completed by beneficiary, unsigned, as of yet, per instructions.

--Original Marriage certificate

--Photocopy of Marriage Certificate

--Original Birth Certificate

--Photocopy of Birth Certificate

--Original Police Clearance Certificate from Local Police Station, Calcutta

--Original Police Clearance Certificate from Regional Passport Office, Calcutta

--Photocopy of beneficiary's Indian passport.

This is the link to the NVC payment portal. Bookmark it. You're gonna be checking in a lot.

https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx

i think this data should be a sticky page in this section of the forum and the first thing on the page of the sticky. would probably really help a lot of people who are just starting out at NVC to see what they need to do without having to read through 100s of pages in a thread!

sounds like you need new friends. :(

do you have any siblings/cousins/family that can sponsor? it is best to involve family, not friends!

i think what most people do is THEY get the PCC themselves. then they forward it to the US spouse who then submits it with the IV Pack. i don't know what country sends it to the NVC directly. you personally gotta pick it up usually.

better double check your country's info and go get it ASAP cuse it will take a few weeks to receive it. :o

but if your case was already complete it could just be mistake by the NVC! hopefully that is all! good luck when you call!!

I think the financial statememt is the worst part of this!

I have been working 2 jobs for almost a year now.

When I filed the I864 with NVC, I knew I was close to the income guideline, so I sent a joint sponsor just in case they wanted one. I didn't want an RFE and have to get all the information from my mom later.

I don't know if they used the joint sponsor or not. And my pay is better now than it was on my 2009 taxes, so I am hoping I don't need to use her. I want to do this on my own. I plan to take all the information on both of us to the interview, but I want to ask them to let it go thru based on my income alone.

All my paperwork will be mailed to NVC on Monday. Now what do I do? I mean how do I keep on top of my case with them. Can I call them after a week to see if they got my paperwork? Should I call and give them our email addresses?

I would be grateful for any advice.

Wait a week (May 18) and then call the AVR to check on the status.

Also keep checking into the payment portal to see if you get your SIF.

You can also check your status once in a while with the operator.

If the AVR has confirmed case complete, then no need to worry. Produce the PCC at the time of the interview and you'll be fine. Hope you get an interview date next week!

Hey Sach, when are you flying out? We're going to miss you while you're in the air but I wish you a safe journey and the best interview ever. I'm sure you're very prepared!

Thank you for your good wishes, Cheyemo. I'm flying out on Tuesday morning to Mumbai. I'll be there by 3PM. The interview is next morning at 730AM. I hope to be back later that night, hopefully with visa and passport in hand! I'm getting really nervous and I will need all of your best wishes! :star:
