NVC still hasn't even managed to up date my AVR to day they received RFE response. It better be because they're too busy handing out CCs.

Of course all will be forgive if I'm completed before next week :D.

Anyway, so anyone getting any luck today with the SIF/LIF? I know a bunch of us are really hoping for it.

Nope! And I'm so frustrated but realize that I really have no right to be. I called them about an hour ago and my case is still under review! I just know I'll need to stay busy this weekend to keep sane! So Brian, you mean they haven't even said "we received the checklist letter response and blah blah blah???" What is the AVR saying?

It's just saying "Your documents have been received, reviewed and something is missing: a response has been sent on April 23". It's just the same message since the RFE.

I'm not too worried about the AVR not updating though. I think it's somewhat common for the AVR not to get updated.

Of course I made sure to send the documents with signature required, so I know they have it.

If I don't hear something by the middle to late of next week, then I can start calling and harassing (provided the AVR hasn't been updated either).

Even though it's just under the average, I'm still hoping for today. Technically I should be CC'd by Tuesday of next week.

Q1:

I got about 5 emails from NVC last night within hours of each other; it was a checklist asking for my DS-230. I haven’t send it yet, I found an error on my wife birth cert. translation, the guy miss spelled my wife’s name by one letter he typed a “w” instead of a “v”.

So here is my question, should I just go ahead and send in everything now and get hit with an RFE (don’t really care if I get one, not really in a rush) or just ignore the checklist and wait until I get the corrected document and send it in?

It will be about another 2-3 weeks before I will get the documents, which will be about the same time, if I send what I have now and get an RFE. What I don’t want is for NVC to assume I have abandoned my case because I haven’t made any contact with them.

Q2:

I expect to get an interview date in June or at the lasted July, but I really want a date in August. Who should I talk to about this? Should I call NVC now and let them know or wait until I get an interview date first? If I wait until after I get a date, should I call NVC or the Consulate to request a reschedule? Anybody have any experience requesting a later date???

I haven't done the exact math of averages, but I think you would be looking at an August interview at this point anyway.

So I would recommend trying to do everything right.

You can always reschedule your appointment through the consulate. But I'm guessing that's not going to be a problem given where you currently are in the process.

The checklist you received probably mentioned that they would keep your case alive for 1 year.

I would suggest not sending anything right now. Get the birth certificate corrected. Then send everything along with the cover sheet they sent you yesterday.

Regarding your second question, it is best to call NVC and ask them. You are likely looking at a July interview assuming you send everything out in three weeks. Send it out in four or five weeks and then August is likely.

I'm with Brian. If you aren't in a rush, wait and send in the paperwork when its corrected. NVC won't assume you abandoned your case after only 2-3 weeks, or even a month.

Brian, my AVR went from RFE message to case complete message. No receipt of documents or anything in between

Antoneya,

Get the BC translation corrected. I think you're already looking at an August interview, especially since you're waiting 2 - 3 weeks for the needed documents. If it works out that you get a July interview, then you can e-mail/call the embassy to ask for one in August. They may not grant your request, though, so be aware of that. I still say it's slim you'll get a July interview anyway. 3 weeks to get documents another 3 weeks for CC already puts you with an interview being scheduled during the second week of July for an August date. Since that's what you want anyway, you're good. Do correct the BC translation, though.

Nice!!!

Side Note: Anyone know what's up with the NVC being so proactive? One of the Thai girls got an e-mail reminding her to pay the AOS fee so they could continue with her case. She's waiting for her children's NOA2s first. (K-3/K-4 turned CR-1 x 2)

Did you do anything differently RGinu? I am just wondering why they call some and not others. The only number they have on file for me is my home number so I guess I wouldn't expect a call anyway. Congrats on the call though. That gives you a smooth sail into the weekend right?
