My AVR says I have an RFE. I checked it last night. Not unexpected, but I was really hoping it wouldn't happen. Worst thing is, my lawyer is the one who receives the email, so I won't even know for sure what the RFE is until she gets into the office tomorrow. I thought the RFE would be like all the other communication, and be emailed to all 3 of us. mad.gif

For those of you wondering, I get emails from NVC because I am doing Electronic Processing. Which theoretically saves time with the RFE's. Theoretically. If you don't have a lawyer. mad.gif

For Sir Lanka the police cert is actually requested by the U.S. embassy on your behalf. I emailed the embassy and put in a request a few weeks ago. The embassy send my wife a letter saying that "we received a memo stating that there was no derogatory information for this person" and this letter serves as the PCC. I think the embassy should be o.k. with this letter since it came from them, but do you guys think NVC may have a problem with this? Is this going to be an RFE for me?

You won't have a problem.

Here's a link to the gov site which states where you should get documents:

It's good for confirming your documents are coming from the right source.

For police certificates, it says the following:

Available, upon request by the United States Embassy in Colombo. Sri Lanka nationals over the age of 16 must provide the Embassy with their national identity card (NIC) number, date and place of birth, and last residential address in Sri Lanka. Non-Sri Lanka nationals must provide the Embassy with passport identification and Sri Lanka residence visa information. The Embassy will provide a letter summarizing the finding of the police record check. There is no fee for this service. Processing time is approximately six weeks.
