Tbh I'm not even sure what name my visa is given... it says F-1 on the paperwork, so I'm guessing that's it... but the profile settings don't have an "F-1" option

Still, I'll remain in these threads and rant until I CC @ NVC... haha

I believe F1 category is for children under the age of 21.

RFE (Request For Evidence) NOTES from the LingChe guides:

Stay on top of your case during your stay in NVC so you catch an RFE as soon as it pops up.

IF YOU ARE NOT SURE THAT YOU HAVE AN RFE, USE CAUTION. The RFE advice below is under review. A VJ member has reported that they know of instances where sending in RFE information has delayed cases. We are waiting for specific information on these instances, and until such time we caution all users of the guide to use their best judgement in responding to a "possible RFE".

If you review your packages, you might even find an RFE before NVC does, and can send the correction at anytime.

When reviewing your package, it's helpful to know some common RFE as linked here as well as searching the forums.

If you are issued an RFE, send the required documents.

IF YOU CONFIRM WITH NVC THAT YOU HAVE AN RFE, DISREGARD THE WARNING ABOVE.:

--BARCODED cover sheet you printed from the website, but when addressing your package, change the Attention line from "ATTN: CMR" to "ATTN: DR"

--Your own Cover Sheet listing the documents you're sending and reason.

--Include the documents missing or corrected based on operator suggestion and your own common sense.

Pay attention, non-EP NVC noobs. Here's Christeen's time tested formula to get you through NVC in one piece alive:

Petitioner: Get NVC # + give operator your email IDs + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send I-864 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page.

Beneficiary: Get NVC# + receive DS3032 + send DS3032+ DS3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay & wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail DS230 package with all original/certified documents

= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled.

Suggestions:

1) Have the beneficiary mail SIGNED extra DS230s to you so that you have them handy in case something goes wrong. Or you get hit by a dreaded RFE.

2) If you just received your NOA2, THIS is the time to get your tax stuff and police certificates sorted out. Don't waste time on this.

3) Double check the PCC requirements in the regional forums as they are country specific.

4) Check the pinned STUPID RFEs thread in IR-1/CR-1 forum before sending in your packages.

5) Mail your DS230 package to your USC spouse as soon as you get your NOA2. That way he/she can overnight it to NVC as soon as the IV bill clears.

6) Get your taxes, employment letter, paystubs, PCCs, civil documents etc. while you wait for the NOA2.

Currently the # of business days NVC is taking:

3-4 days for NVC to receive your case and assign a case #.

3-4 days to receive emailed links after case # has been assigned and email addresses been given to NVC operator.

1-2 days for the AOS bill to show as PAID.

1-3 days for DS3032 to be accepted.

1-2 days for IV bill to be PAID.

8-11 days for case complete after all your documents have been sent in.

I'm gettting a bit frustrated with things at the moment, and for the first time. I filed my i-129f on Dec 8, 2009 and it was approved on March 24, 2010 which was a decent processing time I thought. So I was very happy with the USCIS. They sent my file on March 24 to NVC. NVC received it on March 26 and mailed it out to the Algerian consulate on March 29. The Algerian consulate still doesn't show it as received. Now, unless someone is swimming it across the ocean, there really is no mail system that should take that long to get it from the US to Algeria. It's been almost a month. So I don't understand. My thought is that it is actually there but just sitting on someone's desk waiting to be opened. I don't know if I can contact anyone there or email or whatever to see if it's actually there. If it hasn't even arrived on site by now, I think it's lost in the mail and needs to be resent. Anyone else have this problem?

K-1s follow a complete different path than CR-1s especially with regard to NVC.

Some countries also let you get the medical exam early.

if your country lets you do this and the exam is valid for several months after, consider getting it while you are waiting around for your case complete!

I originally thought that too, but then the paperwork says F1 (doesn't specially say that is the Visa Type though) and the bulletin doesn't specify age:

FAMILY-SPONSORED PREFERENCES

First: Unmarried Sons and Daughters of Citizens: 23,400 plus any numbers not required for fourth preference.

Which kind of makes sense, specially when under 21 basically goes at the same time as the petitioner goes...

Regardless of the type, the VB says Family First for me is at 08SEP04, and my priority date is 21MAR05, so I'm still a couple of months away

I guess at least I can consider getting my police check and medical completed.

yeh... I've actually been through the ds230 -> packet 4 process before... but that was before I was 21...

unfortunately, we couldn't get all the docs, interview and everything done before I turned 21... so we started it all over...

the good thing about that is that I still have the medical records from last time, so I can see what vaccinations I don't need

After you get your NOA2:

Step #1 -- Call the NVC # (603-334-0700) and follow the prompts to get your case number. Press 5 to speak to an operator and give them your email IDs.

Step #2 -- Wait for the AOS/DS3032 to be emailed to you. The AOS link will contain your IIN.

Hi all...

I got an email from NVC (Checklist Letter Response) regarding my DS230 and required civil documents that they need. However, my Japanese PCC will not be available until May 10th.

I'm kinda confused on what address to use in sending the DS230 packet. Will it be the address they emailed me or the address on the cover sheet I printed out when the IV Fee showed paid at the payment portal?

This is the address I got from NVC (Checklist Letter Response)with barcode as well.
