NVC May 2010 Edition!

I have one Q on NVC in relation to our DS-230 form #23 and #28 "if Deceased, give year of death" which they are not do i need to leave it or do i need to type N/A or NONE or what?

Read the forms..dont leave anything in blank ...It says MARK QUESTIONS THAT ARE NOT APPLICABLE WITH N/A

Vanessa1 According to your suggestion on the form DS-230 ( #23 and #28) I am unable to type N/A I assume the form only to accept numbers so instead of typing from my PDF editor can I just write with black ink? which I can just write it? This is what i get "####" Can I just Write with my hand?

In response to the DS-230 Q - I left it blank and no problems. I know everyone says don't leave anything blank but I figure if you have your parents listed and a DOB and they're not deceased, it does not matter in that instance.

So, we figured out what was going on with our case and why it was 2 weeks for SIF from the date our RFE was entered into the AVR. We were approved for a military expedite. Obviously at NVC and the Consulate. Very cool ...

you can use Black ink and you wrote it down after printed.that's what I did

Yes, there was one question that I had to leave blank on the computer and write in the answer, which I did with black ink. Again, we had no problems with this. As others have said, don't leave anything blank!

If it asks for a specific thing ie., "how many children do you have?" and you don't have any, then the proper answer would be NONE. If it is asking, as in your case, "if deceased, give year of death", then the proper answer would be N/A or not applicable. Doesn't apply to you since the person is still alive. I also hand wrote in the spaces where it wouldn't allow the N/A's to be typed and had no problems I even hand wrote some information that my wife hadn't typed in the form and it went ok.

Thank you Kevin-n-Merlaine for sharing your experience I'll definitely use this suggestion "N/A" with my wife we currently reviewing our DS-230 form.
