NVC May 2010 Edition!

Well that was a huge waste of time. They didn't have a tracking number yet but insisted it was sent yesterday. I'll just have to give it a couple of days and try again. Has anyone else ever called and got the actual tracking number?

Well.... #######. I can't think of anything else. If it still doesn't show up, send an e-mail to the embassy in a few days. Or maybe today, even. Didn't Matt say that NVC sends an electronic copy of the file before they send the hard copy of the documents? It's worth a shot.

Basically the operator said that since it was just sent yesterday there was no way the embassy would have it yet so until a few days pass I think they're not going to be too helpful. I even told him I checked the DHL website and there were zero packages that went to Casa yesterday and that just seemed to confuse him. Sorry, I don't have any info and no tracking number sort of thing. I'll give it a couple of days. There was one that got sent shortly after my CC but it was last week. Haven't seen anything else to Casa since. It's weird.

Hmmm. It's very odd. I'll be looking forward to hearing how it all straightens out. NVC is certainly confusing and exasperating.

Here's the part we've all been waiting for. Your sign in fails! What happens AFTER you get a SIGN IN FAILED?

Check the AVR/confirm with an operator that your case has indeed completed processing at NVC.

CR-1 interviews are scheduled by NVC. The interview letter will be e-mailed to both the beneficiary and the petitioner.

You can track the DHL packages sent out from Portsmouth, NH to your consulate once your interview date has been assigned.

Keep bugging NVC till they assign your date. Not too much, though.

You can check the US Consulate's website for updates on interviews. Most consulate's have an interview schedule updated bi-weekly.

You can also call your consulate for regular updates on how busy the consulate is that month.

Get your medical out of the way. The medical is country specific, so check out your regional forums.

Usually, you need 2-3 photographs, passport, interview letter, and your medical records but I'm sure requirements differ.

Get cracking on your interview evidence.

No I-134 for us, hon. We do I-864. It was sent to NVC, but you might want to update it.

I checked on that other package to Casa last week and it took 4 days to get there which would be Saturday this week so I'm just going to leave it be until Monday and call back NVC then. Quick question, does the AVR update when the embassy has received the package? Or is the AVR update where they tell you when the package left and contact the embassy for further questions sort of thing the very last AVR update?

That's what I did--I was so sick of NVC that I just waited for a week or so before I called the Consulate and they told me that my case had arrived and I was up on the interview list.

Seriously, don't bother with the DHL thingie. It's a PITA.

Alright then. Thanks for the info. I'll just check back next week and make sure it got there safely. I just was hoping that since our interview is still almost 2 months away that it would give the embassy some time to get its paperwork done and maybe we could avoid a lengthy AP. I REALLY want to bring my husband back with me when I come back for work at the end of the summer. I will keep an eye on this for sure. For now, I've got to get some sleep. Oh how the last couple of weeks of school wear me out!

K-1s do NOT go through NVC. It's either a part of P3 or it's taken straight to the consulate. I'm not sure.
