xoom has really tightened up. Not only the terms of service, minimum transfer amounts, and fees, but the coupons too.

The site where I used to consistently find the latest coupon codes say that they have been removed at Xoom's request. Boo Xoom.

I hope that someone has a current code, because I need to remit too.

No kidding on Xoom tightening up...I have used Zoom for service until earlier this month. I have been very lucky that she only needs small amounts of money each month (25-50). Although I have on occasion sent larger amounts and when I was there in February my Mom sent my large cash amount to me after I arrived in Angeles City by Xoom.

Earlier this month I went to send $150 and Xoom had cancelled my account....Mom tried her account and they cancelled it too. Xoom's reason is because they feel that anyone that is receiving smaller amounts under $50 at a time is a business dealer and Xoom was set up for families and friends. So guess what she is pegged a "business" and there was a "no appeal" stated by Xoom. We are OK because her sister is married to an American and we are depositing the money into her account and then it is withdrawn out for Olive. This is a little longer to get the money to her but will work and lucky it is only for a couple of more months until she will be here.

I was happy for those few months when I was able to use a xoom no-fee coupon, but I just considered it an added bonus. I understand their policy too about sending less than $50 repeatedly, I am sure there is a lot of cost to implement their program. If you aren't able to send your spouse $100 a month or more every month then that is your problem, not Xoom's. Just send it every other month. Their fees are low and a good value compared to Western Union. But hey it's your money to waste.

Has anyone here ever talked to a Xoom customer service agent ? everytime I do it seems like I get some rude person from either Pakistan or India.

Yeah, I talked with them a few times and have been frustrated with their "lack" of customer service. I used a free code a few months ago and the receipt said, no charge for the transaction. Then my bank account showed $20 more than I sent. I called customer service, they said my bank must have made a mistake. I said what are talking about....I'm looking at the Xoom charge on my statement...not a bank error. I had to email them a copy of my bank statement. Then, I didn't hear from them for a few weeks...and then received an email saying they were "working" on it. Then nothing for another week or so. I called and they were at the same point as when I started......they had no idea about an overcharge or any previous contact with Xoom or emails or bank statements regarding my account.... :bonk::bonk:

They just don't respond back and think you'll go away....they lost my business for other reasons besides the free code.

I just sent money for the first time with them, and the exchange rate sucked, but it was half the price of moneygram to send, but with the exchange rate I'm sure it would have just about evened out with moneygram.... I was in too much of a hurry to compare closely.

I must agree, we used to use Xoom for unexpected expenses, Dr visits, medicine, etc, so it was normally $20-30 at a time.

Now I am using my PayPal account with a debit card, not too bad even with the new 150PHP ATM fees.

I think the new rules make them less 'family friendly' for sure!

I actually got the nerve and asked them if they have a coupon code hehehe.. and of course they said they don't give it away individually just by mass email and they apologized that I haven't received any in the past. And promised that I will get one in the future whenever they send one out.. I didn't call just email. I find it nice but it sucks that there is not coupon codes online anymore... Times are hard especially this recession..

I have been with Xoom for 3 years and never receive any coupons through e-mail so I think it's a bogus info that they gave you. I'm thinking of dumping xoom already coz their rates are getting ridiculously low every time I send.

Yeah, the representative told me that coupon codes are only meant for new customers. When I told them that I never got a coupon code when I first signed up, they told me something like "too bad". I just found out they now have a $50 minimum for each transaction, and I never really checked their exchange rates versus other companies, so I didn't realize until now that the rates aren't so good. Guess I should have been checking that all along, but I probably sent my last money to the Philippines through them anyway.
