Do couples ever get requested to go attend an interview in the US, like checking if the marriage is still in order and not fraudulent?

Just wondering, as we have never been called up like we expected we would?

What is your status now and where are you living? Your profile says K1 from 2006.

I saw your thread in the K1 forum.

USCIS can interview you pretty much anytime they want, but rarely do unless you have a petition pending for a change in status (AOS, removal of conditions, etc.). I don't know what percentage of people are interviewed at AOS, but I would guess it's relatively small. Most just get their green cards in the mail. A larger percentage are called in for an interview when it comes time to remove conditions, but a substantial number still get through without a face-to-face interview. I think this depends partly on your particular case, but I think some are also selected at random for an interview.

If USCIS has any reason to suspect fraud then they can send ICE to your house at anytime to interview you, and possibly even search your house. They would look through your personal effects to determine if you are actually living together. I don't believe that ICE home inspections are done at random, though. I believe they are only done if fraud is suspected.

For the benefit of other readers, the OP married in the US and adjusted status, but they moved to Europe after 18 months and surrendered the green card at a US consulate abroad. They are now looking to file a DCF and return to the US.
