Hi all VJ family!

I got here 8 days ago, with my CR-1 Visa which is for 1 year. Maybe i´m being silly but what now? How to apply for a SSN? I marked Yes in Form DS-230 when asks if I want to get in once I´m here. Do I have to do it again? How? When will I get the Welcome letter and Green card? I´m confused about it. Well one more question, do we have to apply for AOS 9 months since I got here?

Thank u in advance!!

I think it takes a few weeks for the greencard and everything to show up, as your packet when you crossed has to be sent from the POE to USCIS so they can print out and send you your card. Not sure about the SSN thoough, hopefully one of our wiser CR/IR-1's will come along with some info.

After you have waited a total of 2 weeks, if you still haven't heard anything about your SSN - you may as well go ahead and go to the SS office and apply - sometimes marking the DS-230 works, sometimes it doesn't.

Eventually your green card will show up in the mail, can take a few weeks.

If I am not wrong, your visa is IV visa. Then you will get all of your documents (GC/SSN/Welcome letter) within 2 weeks max 4 weeks from POE.

re: 9 months thingie.

Na, it's 90 days prior to the GreenCard expiration date, and then it's 'Removal of Conditions', not 'Adjustment of Status'.
