I read about it in mens health magazine. It still has to go through FDA approvals first. I believe its already being used on men in India.

Hmm... after reading this thread I'm now considering the probably very unadvisable plan of coming off the pill for a few months (not like I'm going to be needing its effects for a while anyway ) but neglecting to mention it to my GP. A few repeat prescriptions later, plus a last-minute stock-up just before I leave... sorted!

Mm, I know it's not the best idea to come on and off the pill and that my hormones might go a bit haywire, but... a nice stash of pills before I find a doctor/get medical insurance sorted out - plus putting off having to try out some different pills that may or may not agree with me (I've been through a few before and am not looking forward to that experience again, least of all with so much other stuff going on)... I might just try it!

EDIT: Talked to one of the VJ girls and she showed me a site that shows that Gynera and Minulet have the same hormone dosage than my pill, but the usual 21 pills in a box, which doesn't really matter since it's a monophasic hormone and every pill is the same.

Now, anyone know prices for Gynera? And do all pills need prescription in US?

The price is really going to depend on your insurance. If insurance pays, they might not let you buy more than 12 in a year, so check into that. All pills do require prescription, but it's not hard to get. I don't know what they've got available in PR, but you can get a prescription without an examination.

ETA: If the insurance thing is an issue, those pills like Seasoniq work well. I get those because you have 4 periods a year. Perhaps insurance won't notice if you're only 4 weeks off and have zero periods. I don't know the dosage of what you were on, but these are monophasic as well.
