Need help from Canadians and Ameicans regarding honeymoon

Hi all,

I love this site.. will love it even more after I finally apply for my wife's IR1

My religious wedding is in Toronto in July and by that time, I will have already applied for my wife's immigration process (I'm thinking EP ) (On a side note.. I got married December 31st and still dont have my Marriage Certificate. Damn you to whoever made a spelling mistake on my first Marriage Certificate )

Anyways.. the main question that I had was that can my wife enter a US airport? I mean.. some of the trips I am looking at right now have layovers within US.. so will it be fine if she enters US only for changing flights? We wont be coming out of the airport while in US.

Second question: any location recommendations for honeymoon? My budget is $2000 total for 5/6 nights.

I've been looking around on westjetvacations.com, kayak.com, cheapcarribean.com, skyauction.com, etc. trying to look for something but at this point.. i'm totally lost

If u just got married back in Dec--will be the CR-1--same process, just that the greencard is good for 2 yrs,where as the Ir-1 is 10 yrs---its based on how long one is married.

She can visit the USA, many of did while going thru the visa process

Ah yes.. CR1.. thanks. I always get those two mixed up. Gotta remember.. C for Conditional.

I know that she can visit US.. but she doesnt have strong ties back to Canada. She works part-time at a pizza-pizza and lives with her parents. Her college ended a week ago and she wont be working full-time again till she's in US. Plus.. we're planning to travel on Canada west coast or Carribean/Mexico. We can travel US later

So can my wife come to US just to transfer flight?

I cant find a definitive answer..

Shouldn't be a problem! NO one can say yes 100% for sure,just like visiting the USA it is all up to the POE officer! But one would think it would be fine as when she gets up to the desk, they will ask her destination,and she will say the bahamas (or wherever) and going on vacation! and of course she will have the tickets to back that up!!

She *shouldn't* have any problems.

But to err on the safe side, when I was visiting the USA while in the application process I took with me:

- letter from employer stating vacation time

- letter from parents stating I live with them and what I pay/contribute

- any bills [car insurance, computer payments, car payments, etc]

- my immigration folder containing all my immigration documents and reciepts

When I crossed at the border it was 50 questions about EVERYTHING, I offered him the paperwork.

He thought about it, but decided not to look at it, and told me to have a nice trip.

It might have been a little overkill, but I'd rather be prepared for something to happen, then to just wing it and regret it later.
