Hey

I got married 2 weeks ago and got my Marriage license copy a cuple days ago.

I went to the SS office today and wanted to change my name on the Card.

They told me they couldn't do it because I will be out of status may 6th and they can't give me a new card because of that.

They said I have to update my I 94 in the passport...?

So can I apply for a new card when I get the NOA1 for my AOS or do I have to wait until i get my greencard??

Also, will that be a problem because I wrote on my AOS papers my new last name since I wanna have the new name on my Greencard etc?

Thanks for answering

All your AOS papers should have your last name that you want to use on them. That name will be on your green card.

You will need to wait till you have EAD or your Green Card to get the new SSN card. If you didnt apply for EAD you will need to wait for the Green Card.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

We applied for a name change on her SS number and brought with us her visa, passport, certified copy of marriage certificate, and marriage license. The SS office here wrote a letter explaining that the name change was requested because of marriage and submitted the request, which makes sense. It did not change her status because she got married, we are requesting that with AOS process. There should be no difference that if a citizen gets married and wants to change her last name to her husbands. It seemed that they knew what to do at the SS office even though the initial entries into the SS system did not accept the change, and they just entered an explaination with copies of our documents. GOOD LUCK
