My husband and I married in summer 2008. And this summer is the time for us to renew my GC.

He (US citizen) was working full time until summer 2009, and he became a full time graduate student

from Fall 2009. He quit his work, but I have been working full time and make way above the poverty line.

He applied for financial aid and he got approved and only his tuition has been paid by the gov grant.

I wonder if this will affect my renewing my GC. I am not on welfare and I am taking care of entire his

living expense.

No - financial status or financial support is not required for ROC. The only important and required proof is that you are still married to the same USC, living with him/her, and show evidence of a good-faith marriage. They could care less of finances.

Tax returns are requested to show that you are filing "married" and your address is the same. Also all other supporting evidence follows the same logic that is only looked at for evidence of good-faith marriage.

You can relax and just get your package correctly put together!

Good luck!

Thank you so much. Oh by the way, what should I do if my GC is not approved by the time my 2 years GC expires.

It seems that it will take longer than 3 months.

The receipt notice for I-751 indicates that it serves as a 1-year extension of your status, and you can use it, along with your expired card, to travel and as proof of employment eligibility.

Wife's I-130:

03/15/2019 NOA1 (Nebraska Service Center)

02/11/2020 Case transferred to Vermont Service Center

02/02/2021 NOA2 الحمد لله

You do nothing for a year if you received your NOA1 after filing -I751. If any officer swipes your card at an airport, it will show your green card expires next year because of the extension.

if you will be traveling across or near US borders or anywhere by air be sure to carry the NOA1 that includes text indicating the card is extended for 1 year. keep a photocopy of this and your green card in your purse always.
