Three weeks ago, I was hit by 2 cars that had collided in an intersection, I was stopped at a stop sign. Neither driver had insurance and neither driver had a drivers license!

The estimate is now ready and the total is $1500.00. So next week my poor banged up car can go to be fixed. Of course I have to pay the $500.00 deductible. I talked to the insurance company today and they said they will go after BOTH drivers also the owners of both vehicles. This makes me chuckle, cuz the owner of one of the vehicles is a police officer. They will ask the state to suspend his license if they dont agree to pay.

My car---- 2003 Cavalier. And the drivers side held up very well considering a Blazer hit me.

I was driving on my way to work today thinking it would be a good day. I just bought a house, moved last weekend, and K-1 approved last Monday. I was then hit by a woman making a left-hand turn which then pushed my car onto the curb. She hit my driver's side door and had me pinned in the car. I am ok. I am very shook up over it. This is my first accident with me driving. Her front end was laying on the road (Nissan Altima). She crushed my driver's side door and the part where the door meets the front end of my car. Also, above the tire and the hood is bent. She didn't have her insurance card with her. The police officer was a bit annoyed. He said she would be 100% cited for this. I was able to drive my car after I calmed down. Although, when I got to work, it wouldn't shut off. I had my keys in my hand and my car was still running. <sigh>

I now have to go for an estimate on my car if it can even be fixed. I sure hope she had insurance. :o

The main thing is, you are alive and well. It's bad enough we're in long distance relationships. I can relate cuz my girl was in something similar before I even got to see her in person. She is in the philippines and their main mode of transportation is a tricycle. She was in one on her way to her internet cafe to see me and the driver was going too fast. They crashed into another tricycle, tipped over and threw my baby out onto the street. Thank God she was ok except for a tiny bruise which she showed me on her webcam soon afterwards. I felt helpless being halfway across the world from her. So as soon as we met in person, I asked her if she still had the bruise, I saw it..and kissed it away.

But before I get a little emotional here  , we're just glad you're alright.

Even if she is not insured, you shouldn't have to pay for the repairs. Most insurance has uninsured drivers clauses on them now so I would assume yours would. You *may* have to pay a deductable though.

My sister and I were hit by an uninsured motorist in November (I was driving her car) and the repairs were $1500. She didn't have to pay a dime.

I never understood the purpose of the uninsured motorist insurance. Why should I pay

for someone else's insurance? It's illegal to drive without insurance and if someone does,

they should pay for all the damages out of their own pocket, not me or my insurance company

(assuming the collision was their fault.)
