Wife has valid 10 year tourist visa to US and waiting for interview in Montreal. Can she visit?

Hi Guys!! Anybody knows if your wife has valid tourist visa to US and waiting for interview at Montreal. Is is feasible for her to come and visit for a couple of weeks as the process is taking too long? Any input greatly appreciated.

I'm going to assume your wife is not a citizen of Canada (since Canadians are not issued 10 year tourist visas...or any type of tourist visa actually - however, correct me if I am wrong)

She, of couse, can attempt to visit. Duration of stay and admittance is up to the CBP at the time of entry. She'll likely want to bring strong ties to Canada (job, lease/mortgage, utility bills) to show that she will return to Canada but it is all up to the Border Agent at the time of entry

Thanks for the reply! Yes that is correct she is not a canadian citizen yet. So we drive together and convince the officer that the purpose of travel is just a visit it would work? Would that show at the consulate? And would that create hurdles or not?

If she is denied entry it will not affect the visa process. I was denied entrance twice, I was asked about it and then approved with no issues.

Try to 'convince' the CBP that is it just for travel by using those ties I mentioned

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if you go to the border officer would they stamp your passport that you were denied or you can just ask whether they will allow you to enter and just go back. Your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

If you do not have the ties that they are asking for, they will give you paperwork to that extent and maybe write something in your passport. There will be a notation made in their system and it will be exponentially more difficult to be granted entrance after a denial.

If you are denied, they will not allow you to enter, not even to go and then come right back
