Hi guys,

My husband called DOS to get an update regarding his visa case today (had to send in additional docs for the second time), but DOS informed him that no such visa number exists in their system! He actually called back again after and again another lady said the same thing. What could be the reason for this?? HELP..im freaking out!

DOCS ? If he's doing NVC Processing, tell him to call NVC instead.

If it was an RFE at USCIS, DOS won't know about it, either.

IMO, unless this was SENT to an embassy, DOS won't know any status.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hi Darnell,

Sorry, i should have clarified. His IR-1 visa case is in Montreal Consulate and they had asked for additional documents to prove domicile, which we send in a little over 3 wks ago. Last week DOS informed us that it was still in process, but today they couldn't even find the visa case number in the system. Thanks.

oh ouch. Sorry - no clue - but I'd call back 3 or 4 times to keep checking.

DOS keeps a record of all that, even months after approval date. I did check yer timeline before I replied though ;)

Thanks for your reply Darnell. I will call them tomorrow and see what they say...my husband isnt the most aggressive person in the world..i can imagine they just say not in system to him both times and he probably just said thank you and hung up without questioning...

All I can think of is that he might have got the file # wrong (I know its virtually impossible) but mistakes happen! If not, then sometimes people at the DOS have no clue what they are talking about. Try calling in again and keep calling till you get a legit response!

Hey cowgirl.. I did that once.. gave the wrong number. She kept telling me there is no such number.. So I scrummaged through my immigration files and found the right one!! It might be something as silly as that, or maybe they were having computer issues.

I would keep trying, your case cant simply "vanish"

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

I would imagine even most Immigration Officers and Consuls don't have the access required to literally and completely delete a case from the DoS database. My money's on an incorrect case number.

Hi Guys,

I called DOS today and they said that they started reviewing our case again on Tuesday. I asked them about yesterday's issue and they said that the system was down or something of that sort and a lot of the workers were getting that error! Goodness almost gave me a heartattack! Thanks for all your responses...Just hoping he gets his visa soon now...
