My question was, what are people like me supposed to do if we get sick or injured, not what to do about my personal financial situation. It was a broader question.

Get health insurance. If it's a money issue, then Affordability is a financial matter.

The delivery of primary medicine to the American middle class is quite abysmal when compared to most developed nations. That is what you're comparing it to I imagine. American care excels in areas that are high-profit like cancer and rare procedures that require a high degree of cost and skill.

That said, the quality of medical care in the large group market and the small group/individual markets are still light years apart.

The cancer treatment is great because we have excellent doctors / scientist (often foreign) and the latest and greatest equipment; which was argued against by some on here.

I am not saying the primary care is crappy, what I am suggesting is that it's nothing special for what we pay. ROI is very low.

Even then that is not the issue, the issue is denials and other shifty shenanigans that the Repubs ignore. What good is having the best treatment if your insurance has the right to drop you at a moments notice? When you need it. Prior to this legislation, we were all playing Russian roulette, hoping nothing happens and that we don't get dropped. Because if we did, good luck trying to fight billion dollar companies in court, while trying to figure out how to pay for $500K cancer treatments; while being treated for cancer. The insurance companies hoped for such a quagmire and exploited it.

The idiots who call this capitalism clearly don't use their pea-brain to realize it could be them in that person's situation. Oh no, these same guys who endorse 1kg of sodium be permitted, assume they are healthy. Either I am missing something here or certain people really are that dumb.

I wonder if the legislation means that Medicare can no longer deny claims as well. As pointed out time and time again, medicare has the highest percentile of claims denied (and most claims denied period due to the amount of people on it).

As usual, I'm sure everything government related is 'exempt' from the bill because god forbid they ever actually have to follow the same rules/regulations that they preach.

Just noticed this in the article AJ posted..

No, they are not denying anybody, it's medicare who is. Funny how any senior I know on medicare does not have an issue.

I can't paste it so you will have to click on the link. These companies are bloody pathetic. Their executives should be dragged out and hung in public for their families to see. Barbaric you say, well they leave Americans to die in a similar manner, so it's about time they experience it too. Perhaps their families enjoying the dirty money will get to see how the families of those denied claims feel.

The jealousy is palpable. I enjoy being envied by people who have no basis for calling me a liar.

Ya, if you can pay for your own medical care and don't want government intrusion in your choices, you're silly, clueless, lying and delusional. But, if you demand that others foot your bill under government coercion, you're perfectly normal. Such is the bizarro world view of the typical beggar.

No dear, now you're falling apart. Perhaps that's because your two political heroes hate each other's guts? What did you make of Tancredo's assertion that Palin was just a media ####### hawking her books?

True to form, when you have no point, you change the subject.

Embarrassing for you isn't it? Which one will win you over, Tancredo or Palin. It's a tough one, but my bet is Tancredo is right and Palin will not even attempt to run for pres in 2012.

My only heroes are God and my daddy.

What's truly embarassing, PH, is how quickly what few shreds of intellect you manage to laboriously drag into any discussion fall away to reveal your real addled levels of interest in celebrity brawls and b!tchmania. You are clearly confused about what's important in life. I've given you the attention you crave from me for long enough now.I hope you recover soon.
