Hi guys,

We just recently found out that not Charlotte, but Missouri will work on our application, which is very annoying since Charlotte needs two weeks for AP and EAD. I was totally okay with two weeks or even a month. But three months?

I am a workaholic, I can't live without doing something that makes sense. I didnt have any vaccation since 2002, I prefered to work. I love working. I hate staying at home. I cant cook, I hate cleaning and all that stuff is just not interesting, at home I'm the one who repairs computers or does home improvement stuff.

What are you guys doing not to die of boredem? If I had AP I would visit my family, but also, the government kinda like takes my freedom to travel (a freedom I really appreciate because when I travel I do adventure trips to far far places). I feel so frustrated. And there is nothing we can do, right? The processing times are correct, and they are always correct? Are there cases that EADs or APs were approved more quickly than stated on that webpage?

Oh I am really so frustrated, I wanna cry! Can I at least attend a college, I could get a PHD or something or get another MA, at least something to do! In that case, can I qualify for a scholarship or is that reserved to citizens only?

I'm sorry for bugging you, but I bet there are lots of people in the same situation here!!!

Thanks for reading,

Anna

I am so sorry to hear of your situation.

I am totally NOT a workaholic and am loving staying home. I am in the process of looking for part-time work, but I want a no stress job. But I understand how people can love working and hate staying home.

The processing dates that are online are only guidelines and in every one of our cases, we were approved way sooner than the dates stated.

My daughter's AP was approved in less than 2 months.

If you want to attend college before you are a Permanent Resident, you will pay 3 times the resident tuition fees, so it's best to wait until you get your GC.

Best wishes.

Yes, everyone is in the same boat. I'm not sure who gets their EAD processed at their DO, I think everyone going through AOS has their EAD processed by the National Benefits Center.

My first EAD came out just a few days over 3 months. The second one got approved faster, 1 month. So it really depends on how busy NBC is right now, you might get it approved faster.

I also like to work, wouldn't call myself a workaholic though, but I do like working. When I couldn't work, I just drove around our little town, went to some stores, sight-seeing the country sceneries... anything to kill time.

You can attend college, but if you go to public college, you will have to pay higher tuition fees. If you want to go to private one, then the fees are the same for both resident or non-resident but their tuition are much higher anyway. And no, you are not eligible for federal loan until you get your GC. However, you can always apply for student loan from banks, etc. Regarding scholarships, it depends, some of them are only for citizen/PR, some are for international students only.

I'm the type of person where if I don't have anything to do I get like a bored Border collie  , so I need to challenge my energy constructively. I started volunteering at the city animal shelter in May of this year and I love it! I'm there 4 days a week and run the shelter on my own on saturdays which I love doing as I enjoy being in control :P Most importantly our adoptions have increased and I have done a lot of media work to increase animals chances. I have made a lot of great friends and can't go anywhere in town now without bumping into someone who I know.

Anyhow the job is not just benefitting my energy outlets, but its helping animals and the community. Its also helped open a lot of doors of opportunity for me and I have 2 job offers open to me; one as animal control officer working for the city police department and another as veterinary technician.

Volunteering for an animal shelter or local charity store or library is permitted and the immigration officer at my interview loved the fact that I was volunteering and commented that its one thing that she thought more should do whilst waiting for their card.
