Hi all, first of all I am not sure if I am posting at the right forum.

Here is my story. I am a Canadian citizen. My US girlfriend and I got married on March 17, 2010 in Albany, NY. Now I want to apply for LPR and live with my wife in the US. I did not get a spousal/fiancee visa before coming here in the US. What should I do? I don't have enough funds to get a lawyer. Please advise.

Follow this guide.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Where are you now?

If you are now in Canada, look at there guides and read up on the CR-1.

If ou are in the US, look at the guides and read up on "US Citizen and Spouse both live/reside in the US".

If the latter is the case make sure you read everything very carefully and understand the ramifications if it was determined that you entered the US with the "intent" to marry.

Remember its not our opinion that matters, it is how it is viewed by USCIS.

Depending on your specific circumstances it may be in your best interest to return to Canada and having your spouse file CR-1.
