state acceptance of pending ITIN

hello everyone:

we applied for an ITIN with our federal taxes this year, i have received the federal return but am still waiting on the state return. when i applied for the federal return i attached the w-7 and passport copy of my wife but on the state return i only wrote in applying for ITIN. i did not submit any paperwork to prove that we were applying for the ITIN as the w-7 is a federal form and California did not ask for it.

am i going to need to file again a revised 540 now that my wife has a ITIN?

or will this happen internally between the feds and the state?

if anyone has experience with this please let me know,

thank you.

God Thank you for the love we've found

have you called the state tax office help line? what do they say about this?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

The Federal and California State government do not typically exchange information. You should file an amended return for California indicating only the change which is the addition of the ITIN.

Naturalization N-400
