Yes, this wouldn't come as a surprise to you if you knew the history of the NJEA's influence over the course of many decades. The NJ right-wing is very anti-illegal and even they know the NJEA is the problem here, not illegals.

If there is anything right-wingers hate more than illegal aliens it's unions, hence their focus on it. Not that I don't dislike NE unions, as their power is ridiculous by any stretch.

Nevertheless, let's consider the cost of $10k per student. Even if only using an estimated figure of 5,000 illegal aliens or anchor babies in the entire state of Jersey, which we know there are way more, it would amount to a cost of $50 million per year. However that is the base cost per student. If jersey is anything like our districts, each school probably now has five or six extra ESOL teachers. God forbid these kids learn English in America, that's just wrong, Rather, it's best we translate everything into Latin Spanish. Nevertheless, hiring even 100 of these teachers at $65K would be an additional $6.5 million. So $56 million and counting.

While I don't disagree, particularly with the stories I have heard about all NE unions, they are hardly the sole problem plaguing US school districts.
