Hi all,

I'm preparing the forms for our CR1 petition, the idea being that we get everything ready now, and then after the wedding, we just copy the wedding certificate and pop in in the final package to be sent off :D

I just had a few questions...:

- Although my USC spouse will be living in the UK with me whilst we wait for the petition to go through, as we can't do DCF in the UK, is it okay to send it to the USCIS processing centre (Nebraska) for her "home state", and put down her parents address as her current address? She'll still be popping back there occasionally, to pick stuff up, and it is still her official address in the US.

- I can't see anywhere on the assembly guide that we have to include all the evidence we had previous got together for the K1 (letters, emails, photos etc)....do we not need this for the CR1 till the interview? Or should we include it anyway? I know a friend of mine included some evidence in his CR1 petition, and is moving rapidly through the system, so I don't know whether it would help or not.

Thanks for all your help, and I'll update the timeline once we've got the ball rolling after the wedding on August 17th!!

First of all, congratulations on your wedding!

I think, it is ok for your USC wife to use her parents address as long as it is her official US address. Make sure, your soon to be in-laws notify you the immigration correspondence right away. I am sure, there is someone who used his/her parents' US address while living abroad. So I would wait to hear from them also

You don't need to include letters, emails, photos along with your I-130 for CR-1. But you will need them for the immigrant visa interview at the US Embassy. You do need to include a copy of yoru marriage certificate with I-130 now.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: Scotland

I used my parents address as my state side address for the enitre 7 years I lived abroad. However, I was not processing visa applications during that time. For the most part I only received junk mail and my drivers license renewall notices. Also, my US Tax return I had sent to my address abroad. I never researched the legality of do it. It seems reasonable to me that your usc girlfriend should be able to do this, but only if she is in a good relationship with her parents and that they are good at discerning junk mail from government communications. It is also important that it truely is her place of residence when stateside. If she is maintaining an appartment somewhere else than you should probably give this another think.

Now that I am back in the States my parents have been gracious enough to allow me to live with them until my husband can join me here. So it still is my permanent residence.

Not a lawyer, etc....
