Hi everybody,

I'm a J1 visa holder not subjected to the 2 years rule. My question is: I sent a document from the bank showing joint ownership of our bank account. I couldn't be added to the lease as I'm not employed right now. So the only evidence of bonafide marriage sent in the package is the joint bank account. I hope that by the time of the interview I will be able to be added to the lease and also have more evidences. would they ask me for more evidence because of that? Or they may wait to interview me then see?

At least you included something with I-130.I think they will expect you to bring stuff on interview. If you don't have much evidence you will be questioned a lot about each other and your life, may have 2 interviews.

You can ask someone to write an affidavit that you live together if the lease won't be an option.

Try to take lots of pictures and get life insurance and phone/internet bills whatever you can put your names together on. If you somewhere together take pics and keep the tickets. I didn't have any lease because my husband owns the apartment and they didn't even ask about that( I guess it is commmon sense that we would't pay the closing just to add me). You should just explain them that you couldn't add your name at that time and compensate with other evidence.

Thanks Alla and Smiley1 for your responses. These are good ideas. I'll try to convince the landlord to write us a paper stating that we are living together in this apartment. Also the pics I will have more pics with her and her family too.

Regarding the phone I'm using a different network and if we changed and have the same network either me or her will change the number we had put in our applications. does it matter if we changed the numbers?
