I think it has to do with how far over the speed limit you are.

It was cunning as well. I was cited for doing 53 on a road that you would think is 50. However, it was sneakily reduced to 35. Now that ####### is what should be unconstitutional. That is, sneaky revenue raising by the county and not to my surprise it was in the ghetto.

It's exactly what happened to me. Four lane road, grass median in the middle, light traffic, straight run and wooded (unused) on both sides. Absolutely nothing to warrant a 35 limit. Basically the perfect setup to catch someone not paying attention or unfamiliar with the area.

That's a completely separate issue. Whether or not towns want to argue the toss about what the speed limit should be set at is irrelevant. The fact is that signage indicates the legal limit, and if you exceed what the signage allows, you can and will be ticketed. What's so hard to understand, and how is that sneaky? I might not agree that the limit should be x or y, but if that's the limit, that's the limit and if I knowingly flout it, I'm breaking the law and can expect consequences. Not paying attention is really a lousy excuse for any driver to use, paying attention is your prime responsibility when driving.

When I started this OP, it was not so much about illegal immigration in Arizona, but about the rancher who lost his life along with his dog. This man was a good Samaritan who helped illegal's. What happen to this man was wrong. With that said something really needs to be done to protect US citizens and the borders! Please go back and read my two OP's

As a native and long time res. of Arizona, and with family that go's back generations in the state I would hate to received a phone call that my father or family member had been murdered by someone that should not have been allowed in this country from the start!

But do the police have access to whether a person is a citizen or LPR? I honestly don't know. If they do then this is debate is pointless because from getting a name and or basic ID they can determine your status.

Otherwise, what happens when they think they have an illegal or LPR and after detaining them they find they really have a US citizen and lawsuit? Nothing happens, the courts have already ruled on this very issue.

Laws across the nation would have to be changed to require everyone to carry a National ID at all times. Nonsence, The law already requires the Green Card holder to have it with them at all times.

I personally do not like the idea that I would be breaking the law my existing my house and walking the 4 blocks to a coffee shop with my government ID.

Where have the courts ruled on this? There is currently a lawsuit for this very situation - the MSE raid. The only court ruling I see is a 1984 ruling that allows authorities to question anyone on a warrant raid but the workers have a right of freedom of movement...ie they can come and go.

And you missed my point ENTIRELY ID. Its not about the Green Card holders, its about citizens having proof of citizenship at all times. First no law like that currently exists, and number 2 the current laws protects all people from being randomly ID'd. Even areas with Stop & Identify Laws do not necessarily require a person to show a physical ID card, they only have to give a name/address.

I was watching Cooper on CNN and he had some Hispanic rep on from CA. I could have predicted her every single response to the tee. She should have at least come out and said it, because they are Hispanic, she is willing to turn a blind eye. Instead, she gave the stereotypical excuses and dodged any suggestions.

One thing that's boggling my mind is the hue-and-cry over how this bill is 'Criminalizing being an ILLEGAL!'. It's like "I do not think this words means what you think it means." Do people not know what the word ILLEGAL means? It means something which is breaking the law.

It baffles me. Racial profiling is wrong. But I am legally required to carry my greencard with my AT ALL TIMES, and frankly, I think having a similar high-security ID card on everyone is only fair. Frankly, as someone who went through the hell of immigration, I don't feel kindly towards people who violated the laws I was forced to adhere to.
