    • tell the person to get the fukc out of your seat
    • make a hand gesture meaning ''get out''

yeah I like window seat because of the wall to lean on and hate window seat because of people bumping on you.

Why do you have to be the last person on the plane? I have had this happen to me and the machine was barely half boarded.

1) I usually just have my boarding pass in hand and then quote the seat assignment directly from it. Usually, they know they are wrong and leave acting like 'they didn't know'. Whatever.

2) I hope it is taken that way, that is the point.

3) Never tried it, but I would eat one.

If being late isn't my fault then I'd tell the person to get out of my seat. If it was my fault and a flight less than 1 hour I would just sit in the aisle seat. Moving all your stuff around once you're situated on a plane is a pain in the azz!

Newsflash: many people (myself included) like window-seats due to WALL being there to lean on--which just isn't there on the aisle!

why is that a newsflash? I like the window seat too but I was just asking a question because she left that out.

I actually prefer an aisle seat....I'm the same in the cinema...I need to feel I can get up and about without climbing over people. Also, I have a weird phobia about being sucked out of the window unsure.gif

Why do you have to be the last person on the plane?

like I said before, airline messes up with your reservation and makes you wait over 50 minutes when you're checking in.

I meant for the same scenario to happen. I don't know what the difference is between people jumping claim on your seat immediately or later before the plane has left the ground regardless of fault. It is equally presumptuous and annoying to me in either case. Your seat is your seat until the plane is in the sky and it is obvious that the person in the empty seat next to you is not going to board. ;)

Southwest has a "solution" to this problem--they don't assign seats (that was one of the first "frills" they decided not to have); ergo, problem cannot arise.

Southwest also requires people who can't fit in one seat to reserve two.

My last flight was on a prop jet (45 seater, 30 min flight) and the person sitting next to me was so fat he took a third of my seat, and the stupid flight was full so I couldn't change seats. I'm glad I had the aisle (which I normally hate) because if I had had the window, I would have been crushed. The flight just solidified my resolve to just take the shuttle van to/from Chicago instead.

I like the window seat so if I had the window seat and someone was sitting in it, I'd hold out my boarding pass clearly showing the seat assignment and say "Excuse me, I believe you're in my seat." If they didn't co-operate and move, I would call the steward/stewardess and let them deal with it - as long as I got my window seat :D. I like to look out the window while we are flying and find the aisle seats extremely boring.

Yes, number 3 was rude.

I've had quail and I've had quail eggs - they taste just like eggs :).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

If I were in charge of All Things, I'd make the minimum speed limit 100 mph within a 10-mile radius of any airport, si man.

Holy #######, I live and work within that radius, and frequently ride my bicycle to work...so, I would appreciate it if this never happened!!!

I'm also with DonnaA, I have *never* been late for a flight. However, I rarely actually make an effort to get on the plane first. I'm usually quite content to take a few more laps up and down the concourse before sitting for hours on end, but I'm always with the main boarding group, so I would never feel uncomfortable with taking more time to make sure I got my window seat.

I've actually never had a memorable situation of someone being in my seat before. Though, when we recently went to a concert we found that a lot of people made nearly zero effort to ensure that they were in the correct seat, and there was a lot of shuffling around with the usher after the lights went down. At least the warm up band sucked so we didn't care so much.

I shall change to "bicyclists" my bumper sticker that now says "So many pedestrians, so little time, si man," si man. :)

Here we differ. This is precisely why I, if in charge of All Things, would make the MINIMUM speed limit 100 mph within a 10-mile radius of any airport, si man.

It has happened and all I have to do is show my boarding pass and they move on.

If not, I would have called the attendant.
