Hey all

I'm in the process of getting my 10 yr GC and am really bummed that I can't sponsor my parents to move to the US til I'm a citizen.

They're 59 & 60 yrs old...

I do have an uncle who lives in NJ (he's my mom's brother) and was considering asking him if he'd be willing to sponsor him... yes, I do realize that means he'd be financially responsible blah-blah-blah and i'm sure that'll be fine...

But my question is, what do you think would be faster? Him sponsoring them now as siblings and being put at the bottom of the list.... or me waiting til I have citizenship (probably two years from now!) and sponsoring them myself?

Wait until you are a citizen then they get IR visas.

Through the USC brother it takes about 10-13 years. Not worth trying that route.

Don't bother with uncle's petition - that would take 10 years.

Get your citizenship next year, right now it takes only couple of months start to finish for N400. Have everything prepared for parent's I-130 petitions and mail it off as soon as you get your hands on the certificate. They should be done with everything in under a year.

You are eligible to file for your citizenship next year since you were married to U.S. Citizen. You don't have to wait 5 yrs from the date of your resident, only 3 yrs.

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

I'm aware of that. I was trying to estabilish how long it would take in comparision to filing for my citizenship in 2011 and then WAITING for that to come through AND THEN filing for my parents vs. my uncle filing for them today...

But it looks like it's many many years if my uncle was to do it?
